I'm trying to softmod my xbox with hotswapping the hdds. Every time I try it, it seems like the HDD is never unlocked... Also when I boot from the xboxhdm cd and I let it wait for me to do the hotswap, it proceeds as if I pressed 1 or 2 and takes me to a new screen, even when the HDD is still in the xbox. So i have to hotswap it pretty fast or I just turn on the xbox and wait 10 tens or so then turn on my comp and do the hotswap.

I must of tried over 10 times and it's not working at all... I also have a version 1.0 xbox with the WD hdd.

You are hotswapping at the wrong time. Disconnect the DVD cable on the Xbox, it gives you about an extra half a second before the disk relocks.

Press the pause button on you PC to stop xboxhdm from booting.

It's "must have", not "must of". smile.gif

make sure the av pack is attached to the xbox as well. or it wornt work.

its generaly a good idea to unhook the IDE cable when Microsoft pops up on screen under the X, (and a good idea to have the ide cable already as loose as possible but still connected enough to work.)

if you are still having dificulty's you can play get a cd and copy a track to the hard disk and then play that. whilst that song is playing from the hard disk the hdd is unlocked.
but hotswaping whilst the hard disk is in use is not advizable..

Wold rather get someone in Toronto with Action Replay to do this.

Okay so my problem was that my jumper cable on my CD ROM was set to primary. So if anyone has a problem like this, make sure that your HDD is your primary drive and make sure the jumper cables are in the correct place too. Making the CD ROM as slave and the HDD master.
