This one has me stumped. I downloaded the newest dash and installed via USB stick. I knew this would flash my drive back to stock, but it didn't. I tried my back up of NCAA Football and it fired right up. I double checked the dashboard and it says 2.0.13599.0. So I popped in my backup of Dead Island and it fired right up. I'm totally confused now...but happy non the less.

That is the thing, I was almost positive it was a Sammy. So, I went to llama to check out the comparison shots of the drives. If I look at the wires (removing faceplate), I see red/black.

Checking the trays would have been easier since they are visibly different. More reliable too, at least for phat consoles.
