I'm having trouble with my Asus DRW-24B1ST. When I run the flash utility for LiteOn based optical drives v.6.0.1(not sure if its the right one)
I then check the update boot code.
I clicked write flash
I select ATAPI.IHAS124_B.ALOL.stock

It writes for about 2 bars and I get this error message"Error writing FLASH to drive!"

Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I've been reading all the forums but I'm stuck and don't know what to do.

Thank you

are you sure it's not the 'A' chipset?

from what i read, it won't complete the flashing process and give you an error if you have the A chipset instead of the B chipset.

blackmatrix im having the same prb got myself some new drw-24b1st but they came with 1.05 and not 1.04

and 1.03 are the a chipset and they dont work at all

1.04 work easyly

but new drive was manufactured in january 2012 so maybe they decided to block something so we cannot crossflash anymore

anybody could chime in would be appreciated

There's a new revision of the Liteon these were based on so it's likely the rebranded ones now use that revision, basically no options

I though I'd post an update to this since revision B drives have stopped production and are getting increasingly hard to find.

First newer ASUS drives have been confirmed to be revision C

Easy way to tell stock firmware 1.05 = revision C

Confirmed iHASx24 B re-badges

Thanks to DaSoP and C4eva for these

Teac

DV-W524GSB

Dell

PLDS DH-16ABS

Lite-On

iHAS 122 (A revision also exists, C revision unconfirmed)
iHAS 322 (A revision also exists, C revision unconfirmed)

Possible? (Unconfirmed) iHASx24 B re-badges

MSI

DH-24AS (A and C revisions may also exist)

Memorex

MRX-550L (A revision known to exist, newer may be B and/or C?)

*correction

Lite-On (found in OEM Dell/Emachines PCs, and maybe other OEM PCs?)
Thanks to Nitroxeno and Takashi for these

PLDS DH-16ABS/ PLDS DH-16ABSH11B

A series drive = incompatible, sorry

If you want you can still crossflash to iHAS224 A or iHAS424 A firmware, but no Burner Max

Wish this page was updated on page 1, ordered an ASUS and apparently got the C chipset.

Ouch, I assume you sent them back. I'm not wasting the time on sending 1 back. I'll keep it around in case my pioneer 116D ever dies.
