Hey all. I've got a Phat with a Hitachi flashed with iXtreme 1.91 (latest). It does not support XGD3 backups, but thankfully still plays XGD3 originals. I wanted to know if I could put in a Samsung drive, I have one RROD'ed XBox lying around and the drive is still stock. Someone told me I would get banned if I did that.

I guess you can but like you said, you run the risk of getting banned. Either buy a new console or just wait some more for LT+2.0 for Hitachi to be released.

I'm not worried about being banned for this... But I was wondering, how would I go about doing this. I have a light-on drive that I can't retrieve the key from due to the update, and I have a hitachi drive thats old as dirt..

Can I use the key from the hitachi and marry the lite-on drive to the 360?

Would it be as simple as just putting the key in the source Key spot on JF?

You could spoof, but like has already been said, it is detectable.

Hitachi LT+2.0 firmware is already complete and in private testing so you shouldn't have to wait more than a week really.

Its not recommended for online play and also every time you do a dashboard update you will have to replace the samsung with the hitachi, do the update, the put it back in.
