Yabause Community Edition PUBLIC A1.0
--------------------------------------
This is the XBOX port of Yabause (http://yabause.org), an Open Source Sega Saturn emulator, to the XBOX.

Features
--------
It emulates Sega Saturn games, what else did you expect tongue.gif

Important Notes
----------------
- This version is NOT officially supported by the Yabause developers
- Overall emulation speed is pretty mediocre for 2D games, don't even bother playing 3D titles
- Bugs like lockups, sound stuttering and very low framerates are likely to happen
- Please don't ask me for games or roms, google is your friend
- Yabause Community Edition is a proof-of-concept, people said it would not be possible at all, they were wrong
- Open Source means that you will also find the full emulator source code within this archive
- Unfortunately i haven't had the time to implement a proper ingame menu, so you will have to use the launcher to change settings
- Some of you may notice the new design of the launcher, this a WIP version built from scratch, feel free to test it smile.gif
- Under no circumstances you should compile the source, include it in your project and give credit to yourself!
- Check the EmuXtras forum to get support and updates
- Keep in mind that this is still an ALPHA version, you should be happy if it works for you

Emulator settings
-----------------
There are 6 options that allow you to disable various background layers, which
compose the final output on your screen. As a general advice you should hide as many
!unused! layers as possible to improve speed. Also, if you're experiencing
graphical artifacts like having only 1 bright screen (e.g. Bomberman Wars),
you should just try to find and hide the according layer (e.g. Rotation Scroll).
Be careful though, if you happen to get a black background or missing graphics,
you should revert your last change(s).

Bugs
----
Too many to count!
If you find any, fix 'em, source code is included

thanks go to freakdave for this awsome release and to team yabause for making yabause open source.

I probably won't try this emulator*, but I'm really glad this it's appearing as not only is any piece of homebrew welcome for the not-so-humble XBox, but the Saturn is reputedly a great console with some really good games.

For those of us unfamiliar with it, what are it's best games? From what I've heard, isn't it mainly 2D shooters and 2D fighters it's famous for? What was the console's strengths and weaknesses, and what was it's pad like (and if it was bad, could you use third party pads, as I always have done with the N64, I love the Mako Pad 64 much, much MUCH more than the official N64 pad). I know I could look it all up on Wikipedia or google, but it'd be good to hear from some fans direct.

Is it, like the Dreamcast before it, another console that was technically ahead of the competition and with lots of great games, or did it have a smaller library, or what? I've heard that many of it's best games cost a fortune now as they are collectors' items.

* I only tend to emulate machines I owned, or at least played on a lot in years gone by, and I've never used a Saturn, and I've got far too many games (retro and current generation) to play in my much-too-short free time anyway. Plus I bought Skyrim (XBox 360) today, and I'm really hoping it's the game that gets me interested in RPGs.

I think Xant is he only one that can post to the frontpage, so when he sees it, it will be there. I just do not think he ventures down this far that much anymore.

@Clockface: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Sega_Saturn_games there are some really great games for the Saturn. I don't remember much about the system but I know I loved it and is still one of my fav systems. And skyrim is a great game and I am not into RPGs that much.

Just got to say that's very disappointing. There was a time when people would announce things here, or submit their work to xbins and news would be published here. Now it seems like everyone is out to release their work elsewhere, and the only news has to come about from members still interested.

I can't really blame Xantium for not being as attentive, or the developers for deciding to inform the masses somewhere else. I can't really blame anybody. Just kinda wish strides would be taken for X-S to maintain its home for the xbox1.

Moving back on topic...
Anyone with a Trusty box have results to report?

Perfect as in better compatibility does not mean better. For instance, there are system requirements to consider. It may need more CPU, or video, processing power, and significantly newer DirectX features. Also I don't see any sources for it. 'Freeware' doesn't mean open-source.

While it'd be nice to eventually see an update for this, I wouldn't expect it, so thanks to freakdave for what we have.
