Some of the games that used to be working on my hard drive now freeze on the evox splashscreen. The Xbox then requires a hard reset.

What are some possible causes of this? Is it possible my hard disk is going bad?

Delete the contents of the cache and the X, Y and Z partitions.

Thanks for the help, Heimdall!

I did as you suggested, but the broken games are still exhibiting the same behavior. I tested on three different games to be sure. Two of the them freeze on the splashscreen, and the other just freezes the Xbox and kills all input to the monitor--which I know because it automatically switches to another active input (my computer). This is the same behavior as before I deleted the cache and the contents of X, Y, and Z.

Any other ideas? Thanks again!

I just discovered the solution this week, and am posting it for the reference of others who come hunting.

I disabled IGR (in-game reset) and TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident programs needed to use trainers, I believe) in the System Utilities, and the games stopped freezing on the EvoX splashscreen.
