So am I correct in saying that:
  • My KREON drive for ripping games is obsolete w/ XGD3?
  • The only way to rip new games is to use a drive w/ 0800 FW?
  • If I want to burn new XGD3 games the only way is to use a LITE-ON iHAS drive?

I'll take the no replies as it is obsolete or people don't even know what a Kreon drive is haha.

Well with the glitch hack out the kreon drive can be used to rip games for that. I tested mine last night just to see if it would read the GoW3 disk and it does. So its not obsolete it is just not safe for people that wanna make backups with AP2.5 crap in them.

considering how overburnt an xgd3 disc is, I don't think a kreon would be advisable. Likely to get corrupt files, esp if in the last 3% of the disc/200mb

It works perfectly fine for me. Xbox Backup Creator 2.9.0.345 was updated to support XGD3 discs and it specifically supports only the latest Xtreme ripping firmwares and Kreon drives. The only issues are the obvious limitations of Kreon drives, but if you're ripping for a JTAG like I am, it doesn't matter. I convert my ISOs to GOD installs anyway.

too funny, i got an error trying to rip an xgd3 game just a couple weeks ago with my kreon. that was after the update. however, after reading toddler's post i tried it again and the drive ripped my game just fine. pretty sure i did not do anything different...

Yes it will rip XDG3 games BUT they will only play on RGH'd or Jtag'd machines. If you want to rip XDG3 for your NON Jtag'd or RGH'd machine (assuming your machine is modded) then you should get yourself a Xbox drive (many available) flash it with 0800 for it's model and rip away. To burn them you need a iHAS with the proper CFW pop.gif

i just got an xk3y installed yesterday and have been assuming the kreon images i use in my jtag will also work with the emulator... is that correct? i have thrown a couple images at it to test, but i do not think i have tested it with an kreon ripped xgd3 image yet. should i be concerned?
