I used to be able to stream media from my computer using TVersity in conjuction with XBMC and it worked great, but now I tried setting it up today for the first time in a while, and my Xbox just freezes every time I turn it on. It works fine if I unplug the network cable, but otherwise I can't do fuck all with it plugged in.
Help! I love XBMC but I keep all my media on my computer, and I can't use it if UPNP doesn't work.. anyone have any idea what the issue could be? |

XBMC has some issues with UPNP - but it's not the only way to get it to play data held on your PC. Just share your media folder on your PC and map it as an SMB share in XBMC.

When I try to access my shared folder it asks for a username and password... I never set up a password so where do I go to change it?
edit: Okay I figured it out... but is there a way to turn this off? I don't wanna have to enter the username and password every time I need to access it... This post has been edited by jaroc: Jan 6 2012, 08:53 PM |

Another issue I have with doing it this way is that XBMC stutters with almost all of my movies, which is why I wanted to use TVersity.. is there really no way around this?
This really sucks.. XBMC is the best thing for Xbox but if I can't stream files from my Computer the only thing it's good for is Navi-X.. this fucking blows! |

Oh, thank God I can grow a beard and am uninterested in picking up other men on message forums!
