Hello everybody! I was reading some old modding threads about the exhaust fans and 2 questions came to mind, that I didn't find answers to. I do not want to necro threads, so I will ask in a new one if it's ok for the mods.
My two fans are modded to constant 8V (with a UA7908 voltage regulator) for a good ratio of noise and airflow. Reading some threads got me curious about cutting the metal fan grills. The question is will cutting only the metal grills(while leaving the plastic) reduce noise and increase airflow and if so - by how much? Hope someone with personal experience can enlighten me, before I get to the cutting part. smile.gif

Cut both it will increase airflow allot but it means there will be a bigger dust build up. It does work smile.gif and easy if you have a dremel smile.gif

I cut the grill and case. I used a dremel for the plastic and a heavy duty wire cutters for the grill. It helped my temps alot!
