Hey guys,

I have been a member a while, performed both Firmware and Jtag mods and I now have a technical question, I apologise if this is the wrong place but this site is THE place really.

I have been doing some undergrad work and am now at the point of identifying my specific area of research, for arguments sake im not a n00b, but I am unfamiliar with the specific field I have chosen. I have done several projects on the Xbox 360 over the last few years as a build up to this project, this includes developing a Penetration Testing Platform that ran on the 360.

I am interested in researching firmware modifications but other than the basic information I have no idea where to start with decompiling the firmware images.

Could anyone direct me to the appropriate application for reading firmware packages, specifically Xbox DVD Drive firmware?

I apologise if this is off topic or frowned upon but the next 4 years of research have to start somewhere.
