I was given some older 360's that have RROD to keep/mess around with. I've been getting them working by baking in the oven and then doing the 12v fan mod. 2 for 2 working since MW3's been out.

Trying this on the last batch and I know that some consoles are valuable to a degree if they can be jtagged.

Can a console with:

D:2.0.7363.0 K:2.0.7363.0

be one of these consoles?

I read a tutorial where someone said sure and where most tutorials say no.

Thanks in advance.

It depends. You'd have to check the CD value before you'll know for sure. Some refurb consoles are 7363 and have updated bootloaders, while consoles that haven't be refurbished by Microsoft don't have updated bootloaders.

Exploitable (SMC/JTAG hack) consoles are better as their boot times are reliable, but all fat HDMI consoles can utilize the Reset Glitch Hack.

Thanks for the reply. Checking the CD Value would be one of the early steps when starting the jtag process?

You have to read the nand to find out first, but if you cannot JTAG it, you could probably RGH it as long as its not a xenon, but there should be a method released for xenon soon.

The only differences are

RGH uses a chip instead of just resistors or transistors and wire.
RGH sometimes will not boot right away and can take 30 seconds+ to boot sometimes, this differs console to console and wiring and how wiring is run can take effect on how fast your console boots.
RGH can be done on all consoles except for newer slims made after late July 2011 and xenons, but the xenon method should be out soon, but not sure about newer slim boards

In the end they accomplish the same thing after booting. The RGH chip also adds about $20-25 to the mod.

Some refurbs fat consoles can't be glitched at the moment.

With RGH you can do a dual nand Retail (Live)/Freeboot, with Jtag you can't.

Yes forgot about the dual boot with RGH, but everytime you do a dash update on LIVE, you have to update your freeBOOT on RGH and change the LDV

Uhmmm... can I first update Freeboot increasing the LDV value and then update the original nand?

This is a pretty good guide i followed it to find out my key from the nand of the motherboard because my dvd drive was faulty and could not get the key from that.

Tells you what to do for a jtag or RGH whats compatable and whats not etc.

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/...drive-is-broken

Also got the stuff i needed to do this of a guy on ebay who was very helpful aswell the link below is his shop.

Hope the guide helps.. smile.gif

Attempting JTAG on one of these Xenons and getting following error when using nandpro from command prompt.

Testing LPT device address:0378
Testing LPT device address:0278
Testing LPT device address:03BC
Could not detect a flash controller!
Can not continue

Does anyone know if this is an issue caused by my soldering skills with the LPT 25 pin to motherboard or a soldering issue with the Boxxdr Method i'm using?

Still getting error:

Testing LPT device address:0378
Testing LPT device address:0278
Testing LPT device address:03BC
Could not detect a flash controller!
Can not continue

I resoldered the LPT connection to the mobo and double checked soldering again and again. Changed LPT settings in mobo bios to EPP, ECR, and other options. Tried with and without the resistors and diode with no change. Was going to try a different gauge wire and the older method with 330 ohm resistors connected to J1FI but wanted to make sure system still booted. So I removed all wires, resistors, diodes and now am getting a 0020 error.

This error code sucks. The comments on the following site are all over the place with what worked and what didn't.

http://xbox-experts.com/errorcode/E08/0020/

Would this error code affected my attempt at reading the nand if I caused error during process?
If any of the points I soldered to don't have solder in them now could they need it put back in place? Or the opposite and need the solder removed?

The dvd drive was the only thing flaky on this 360. I had to cause the error somehow.

Any advice appreciated.
