I don't think it does but some people are claiming it does?

I have a box that has never been online that has an older LT and I actually do want to revert it so it can be sold as legit/clean. If just putting in a current game and updating is going to do that then that saves me having to open again to flash especially since I don't even have the kit anymore to flash with.

Thanks!

It depends on what drive you have and what your current dashboard is. But if you have a Liteon or BenQ drive and an old enough dashboard then yea it will flash the drive to a new stock firmware when you update.

if you intend to update it (no matter what), just make sure the retail game you use will update to november 2011 dash or later and then test an OLD backup(not ap2.5 or xgd3). if your backups still works, you will need to open the console in order to revert to stock.

Thanks. Do I have to get an actual game disc for this or can I just put a current $$SystemUpdate on a disc/USB and that will do it?

Also are you sure this is correct information? Everything I read suggests that the the update changed DAE.bin on the mainboards NAND (ie. has nothing to do with the drive firmware.)

137 views on your post and nobody is debating ranger72's response; except you. he gave you the correct information for how your dashboard update may ALSO affect your dvd firmware.

i gave you a method for determining if the dvd firmware was in fact updated to retail.

yes, a manual update will work fine, but i would probably still suggest using the november release instead of either february release.
