Slim Mfr Date 2010-08-11 - What Drive Fw? Options

I've been out of the flashing game for quite a while and have just had my first slim job handed to me. Its a 4Gb with a mfr date of 2010-08-11 so I know its a Liteon DG-16D4S drive in there. Ive the case tool on order so I won't know what drive revision is in there till I get it opened, but is it likely to be a 9504 or 0272?

The dash version is 2.0.12625.0 so if it is a 9504 it will still be unlocked, yeah?

So I have an Xecuter CK3 probe 3 and CK3 pro kit. Other than that, is there anything else I'll be needing (other than JF and ixtreme LT+ 3)?

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated, as always.

You will have to do the update to flash it to an 0272 before you mod it or else it will give you an error when you update dashboard.

If its an MXIC SPI I should be able to extract the key easy enough before updating though? And if I use a sputnik unlock switch would that protect it from locking after updating requiring an unlocked replacement pcb?

Also, do I really need a 360usb or will the CK3 and probe do?

A 9504 drive pre 13146 dashboard can easily be flashed with a ck3 etc, but thats not your problem after dashboard 13146 9504 will become a 0272 and that is where you are going to need a X360USB PRO. The Sputnik switch wont protect the update. There are other ways of using a Via 6421 and a cheap USB to Sata adapter by hot swapping to flash the drive but this doesnt work for everyone. Google/YouTube it for more info.

Just to add to the above on what you do need.

...Acceptance that you do need the above, there is no "easy" way since the update to 0272. For all intents and purposes you have an 0225.

Ok, I appreciate that. What I was referring to with the Sputnik switch was, will it prevent the SPI chip locking after 13146 so I won't need to drill or buy an unlocked pcb?
