Hi,

well i read a lot and flashed some phat drives already.

Somehow i cannot get the new slim LiteOn 0401 DG-14D4S into the vendor mode.

I have

WindowxXP installed
Via 6421 Sata Card installed with the right drive. Device manager shows up yellow attention mark.
CK3i Adapter with USB cable connected and driver installed..

Do i need anything else. I read couple of post that this should be enought to dump the drive and flash it but i cannot get the drive into vendor mode. I have no idea what iam doing wrong. It keeps giving me the status code 0x51 never comes up into 0x72

Please help.

The via chipset and on board sata chipsets dont work with the 0401 drives, the easiest and best method is to purchase a X360USB pro. There is a way of using a cheap USB to sata adapter and hot swapping with your via chipset, but be warned this doesnt work for everyone. Google it or youtube it for more info.
