Hi guys, I've got a crystal xbox, version 1.6 with akira 2 modchip!
Due to a bad eeprom flashing, I had to write the eeprom backup with this:
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff230/E...onburn/PCB2.gif
Now the xbox works perfectly, I can see the boot animation, I can play games...but after some minute, the xbox shuts down automatically and it frags with orange light!
This is the video that shows the issue!
Any suggestions? I tried to boot up the xbox with modchip off, same problem!!

Thanks in advance,
Alessio smile.gif

Does it always happen at the same spot, or is it random?

Read this. From your video it looks like:

In spite of the LED flashing indicating that it's an eeprom problem, that definitely sounds like overheating. Check the heatsinks, make sure they aren't loose.

If the heatsinks are OK then it's possible that the temperature sensor (embedded in one of the custom Xbox chips, AFAIR) has failed, at which point the Xbox is effectively history. However, I'd still be tempted to try reflashing the eeprom before throwing the motherboard in the bin - it can't hurt.

The xbox was working perfectly without frag before the bad eeprom flashing! so I don't think is an overheating problem!
Where can I find the temp sensor trace? :/

...and therefore the eeprom is almost certainly your problem, as I said in my last post but one. Reflash it, reflash with a completely different eeprom, make sure it's the right version for your Xbox (1.6 eeprom contents are different).

I'm almost certain there isn't a temp sensor trace - I think it's in-band, or memory mapped, or maybe on the i2c bus.

I think I've solved! aaaand yes...was an eeprom problem! I dessoldered it completely from the motherboard, I soldered one from a v1.0 xbox, with the eeprom programmer and icprog I wrote my eeprom.bin backup... I turned on the xbox and...tadaaaan! no more frag! I'm playing chaos teory without problems! biggrin.gif
Thank you so much for all your help!!
p.s: sorry for my veeeery horrible English smile.gif
