I soft-modded several xbox's for my dad over the past month, he now has one in every room of the house. Unfortunately, the drive in the xbox in the living room crashed today. I do not have a backup of the eeprom (because i'm a schmuck) and I cannot get the xbox to boot, nor can i get a PC to read the drive. I can't get the pc to boot with the drive on the IDE cable at all.

Am i screwed on this box or is it salvageable? I have a 200Gb drive i partitioned using xboxdumper and explorer 360 to copy the files over. xboxdumper did not set the BRFR at 0x600 so i had to set it myself. Am i overlooking something? Whenever i try to boot with the old drive it just sits on the flubber logo, and whenever i try to boot with the 200Gb it says the xbox needs service.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need an eeprom reader - see my signature for details.

Only if you can find the Linux equivalent of Ponyprog to read the eeprom.

Here you go:

after many hours of software woes and outdated dependencies, we pulled the eeprom.bin and read it in liveinfo. Do i have to rebuild this drive from scratch with xboxhdm or is there any way for us to insert the eeprom to this drive without starting over??

You don't insert the eeprom into the drive. You use it to lock and unlock the drive.

As it's unclear what happened, you'd be better off redoing the softmod with xboxhdm. See the link in my signature " Softmod with eeprom".

The issue with that is the PC i'm using for all of this has a bad primary IDE channel, so xboxhdm is not working >.< I do however have an xbox with a modchip and it's booting Hexen, so can i format the drive with hexen?

btw, anyone using the RPM for PonyProg, if you run into issues saying libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 is missing, google this package and install it:
libstdc++2.10-2.96-0.83mdk.i586.rpm
