Around a month ago i sold an xbox to a friend, he rung me up and asked if i could take a look at it.

It has rrod secondary code 0001, so i took it apart and at first couldnt see anything obvious until i looked at the bottom of the board where i saw this.

It looks as though something has leaked inside the console or something but there is nothing on the outer parts of the console including the metal housing???

Any ideas?

That copper has some pretty bad corrosion. I'd guess he spilled soda on it and shorted out some components.

I'd agree with Aldanga. Liquid has corroded the copper band there. That's for grounding purposes.

Plus the incident might have knocked out a Mosfet or two. Hopefully not a controller chip.

With a 0001 error code - its usually a shorted out Mosfet.

I might be able to help you, if you can't do that level of soldering.
