I've searched thru various diagrams and documents on wiring up S-Video and VGA straight from the pins underneath the AVIP connector (the pinout data from here has done nothing but confuse me when comparing this, this, and this against that pinout guide). I was wondering how one would wire up a plug-in for composite and component video.

EDIT: Another question...looking at a few guides for adding on a digital audio out plug, they both (coax and toslink) say to wire to pins 3 (Line Out L) and 5 (Line Out L Gnd). Am I wrong to think that this should actually be pin 6 (SP-DIF Logic-Level Output)?

You might find this avpinout diagram more useful. I've done the composite and it works. I haven't done the component, but I'm pretty sure it will work. Also, I think the tuts are right about the audio.

Composite Video
Ground pin 17
Connect pin 24 to RCA jack data
Connect pin 23 to RCA jack ground

Component Video
Ground pins 18 and 19
Connect pin 22 to RCA jack data Pr
Connect pin 21 to RCA jack ground Pr
Connect pin 11 to RCA jack data Y
Connect pin 12 to RCA jack ground Y
Connect pin 9 to RCA jack data Pb
Connect pin 10 to RCA jack ground Pb

Hmm...that AV pinout would render the VGA wire-up (the third 'this') incorrect, and if that's the case, no big deal since the instructions say what signal goes to the VGA connector anyways.

The third "this" still corressponds with the site I recommend. He just labels the pins differently and uses grounds that don't corresponds with the signal, but that shouldn't matter anyway since ground is just ground, right?. It shouldn't matter wich one you use.

Translating third "this" to my recommendation

22 is 11
20 is 10
18 is 9
16 is 8
19 is 22
17 is 21

mode select VGA
15 is 19
9 is 17

I figured the third "this" to be:

19 to 22 (red)
22 to 11 (green)
18 to 9 (blue)
17 to 21 (red ground)
20 to 12 (green ground)
16 to 10 (blue ground)

9 to 17 (mode select, bit 0)
10 to 5 (mode ground)
13 to 19 (mode select, bit 2)
14 to 7 (mode ground)

http://www.xgen-mods.com/gen.php?loc=tutor...s&tpl=video.tpl

The tutorials on xbox-scene are lableing the pins incorrectly. Look at the phots at the bottom of this page for the correct pinout for both the mainboard and the video connector. I am 100% sure that mine are correct as I have already done a custom breakout box for my project here...

Hmm...I'm starting to think that this pinout is the SCART pinout, since I've seen that on another site mentioning Xbox to SCART. Which still leaves me all confused as fuck regarding the pinout for SP-DIF and Toslink (both mention pins 3 to 5 (and 15 for Toslink), which match up on this pinout but not the one you pointed out). From the pinout you pointed out, it should be pins 5 and 6 and a 5v source (pin 1 maybe?). No end to confusion except I can identify pin 1 on the mobo.

My ultimate goal is to have all the ports (composite, s-video, component, vga, analog, coax, and toslink) on the back of the Xbox (according to my template, it should all fit around the avip and ethernet ports). I'd have three SPST switches controlling the modes.

don't forget the switch you'll need to choose between the two output modes.

may I suggest buying one of these and using it for all your AV needs:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=20385

It's only $10 and does everything. I have it and love it. Here's a pic of my AV mod on a micro ATX case:

Are you talking about XBOX video connector to RGB SCART?

Also, here is a reference to Daone's tutorial at xboxhacker. Maybe it will help you.
