I was following the tutorial to connect two usb ports up instead of the xbox ones. I'm doing alright but there are 5 total wires from the pc usb port. There are two black ones, one large and one normal. I figure the normal sized one is the one to connecto to the xbox, but I was wondering what the big black one was for.

it's just an extra ground to the shielding of the cable. if you strip it back enough, you will see it connecting to the shielding.
