Hey,

Can I use any dashboard, or do I have to use the dashboard that came with the original box? My original msdash is corrupt for some reason... but the evox dash works fine... So therefore i thought of using another dash from a friend...

Will it work?? uhh.gif

And, can i delete the original hdd and copy my friend's c drive?

Or am I officially screwed??

Nope dashboards are serialized.

Eh, just restore from a backup.

You do have a backup right? (I hope!)

Well go ahead and drop your friends in though. Just in case make a backup of your current C: stuff though.

You may get away with it as long as the mod chip is on.

Actually the dashboards are the same. I've compared about 10 different dashboards from 10 different xbox's both versions. The ones that are the same version are identical.

I haven't done this or looked at the files, but that is good news.

It must be then that the dashboard must correspond with the bios rev of the motherboard.

This would account for why some people insisted that the dashboard was serialized when it may be not.
