 Modchip Switch Question |

Well, basically, my xececuter 2.1 lite switch doesn't turn off. I flip the switch to off, and the switch LED goes off but the actual mod chip LED is still on. Then it goes to the your xbox needs service screen and gives me 05 in the top left corner. I never touched the origional MS dashboard when installing evox (named it evoxdash.xbe). I have an xecuter 4977 bios. And when i load the MS dash from evox it works fine. Anyone have any ideas on why it's not working? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you just switched the wrong switch. Double check

No, i'm sure it's the on/off switch if thats what you mean. It happens everytime when i turn it off, but it works fine when my modchip is on.

well, i would, but the other switches are protect/unprotect and bios1/bios2. I don't want to risk flashing my bios again and bios 1 and bios 2 are the same bios for me. So i don't really know if the other switches work or not.

Can you please tell us if you've swapped your hard drive?
I think you are "disabling" your mod chip and that is why you are getting the error, mine used to work fine until I swapped the hard drive. My Box now does the same thing when I turn my chip off since the hard drive is not lockable. Pretty sure the error number is the same too - although I don't remember... Cheers |

Yes, error 5 means that the drive isn't locked, and the retail bios requires a locked HD.

Oh, yeah i did get a new harddrive so i gets thats the problem. Oh, and don't you lock your harddrive with config magic? Is there anything i need to know about harddrive locking or a turorial or something? Thanks a lot guys!
