Hey there,
I'm trying to find out what version i have for my xbox and followed the guidlines but it seems the week i have in the serial number doesn't appear in the given table. Could somebody please give me a hand i would really appreciate it because i'm thinking of modding my xbox and want to know what chip to buy. Thinkin about the Xenium ICE or Xecuter 2.3b but i want the solerless because i've never really soldered before. Apparently with Xenim ICE u can't use the solderless adapter for v1.6. Here is my info:
MFG-Date: 2003-08-12 Serial #: 2066957 33305 K: 1.00.5101.01 D: 1.00.4920.01

i have a 4980 as well. What version is it? My buddy said my box is too new to add a switch to turn off my chip, but i got it last year. I play Madden and want to play online this year but i have to wait for someone to add a switch capability i guess. Anyone know if there is one out for my version? i am running an xecuter 2.
Oh god, your buddy is a dumb fuck. Only those kernels that Xantium has mentioned are original kernels (but he has forgotten 5530 which is 1.4-1.5 ). Your kernel is Executer 2 4980 and kick your buddy in the arse to make him install the switch. Remember: LOOK AT THE FIRST POST, and don't aks for what's already answered.

Based on what people have seen, does a 5838 kernel always imply version 1.6? I just bought an Xbox with a MFG date of 7/15/04 and kernel version 5838, so it is probably safe to assume that this is a 1.6 Xbox, right?
Unfortunately, the serial number / version guide does not have data for my product line (3 from region 5) for the past few months, so it is not clear if they have completely switched their production to version 1.6 yet. The last entry is from April 5, which was still version 1.4.
Any experiences with recent Xboxes and their versions?

BIOS version aside, I can guarantee you've purchased a 1.6 based on manufacture date alone, unless it's a refurb.
