or do I HAVE to ground that bitch? IS there some feedback that the fan understands if the black wire isnt grounded? any details would be great, as well as personal experience. Does this make the fan louder, quieter? Does it make an appreciable temperature difference? thanx all

as with everything electrical there is a negative current. You have to ground it or you get nothing. Yes, it is quite a bit louder, but it is not loud in general (compared to pc fans), and as increasing the voltage, increases rpm's, it increases cfm, which increases cooling.

yes it makes a differents. my mb drop 18 degress and my cpu drop 26 degress. that was idling for 30 mins.

leave the damn black wire alone, cut the red, plug it into 12 hdd wire, and ur done.

the red wire is already 12v!!! there is a resistor in the particular ground point of the black wire!!!!!

hath, sk8ermike6789 is right the red wire is already 12v. black wire ground point on the mobo is limiting the volted with a resistor. biggrin.gif
