Tried looking through the faqs and tried the different options in trying to get the game to work off the hd but to no avail. Just wondering if anyone else has had issues or am i just doing something wrong. thanks for any input.

I do not believe there are any new security measures.

Have you:

1. Patched the Default.xbe (Craxtion)
2. Turned off IGR (3 locations in your evox.ini)
3. Try to re-backup the game for the original disc.

thanks for the response Leppper,

1. patched with ADR 0.5
2. IGR's turned off in evox prior to switching to MxM
3. rebacking now.

I should add that it hangs at the inital screen were it notifies us of trademarks and copyrights even before going into the game.

Also, tell us what IS happening. I can't stress it enough. "It doesn't work" does NOTHING to help people help you. Don't make it harder on those donating their time.

did ADR say it found anything? If not, make sure you have the most updated Patch.data or try using Craxtion

just edited my post xeero. thanks.

leppper,
ADR didn't find any files that needed patching. I updated the patch.data a few months ago, i'll see if there's another one that is more recent.

Don't bother - that patch.data from 04/17/03 is the most recent. Beside, this isn't a patching issue.

So you're loading the game from MXM, right? Then IGR isn't an issue.

I'd tend to think a file may have been corrupted during the backup. Either it was written as corrupt, skipped, or written as a 0-byte file. Backup the game again. If you weren't using DVD2Xbox before, try using it this time. It's a better diagnostic tool than the others.

Only problem I had with this ISO was that one file failed to transfer while FTP'n it to my X-Box. File was:

ODB DataODB MEDIAxvgObject_Gunshhip_Fly_by_24+.xvg

The game started fine and played. I can only imagine that later in the game this may cause problems. Time will tell I suppose.

I had the same problem, Got game on HD but the file Object_Gunshhip_Fly_by_24+.xvg wouldn't transfer because of the "+".

So I deleted the plus and transfered it, but I wonder if there is some way to force rename the file to have a "+" on the xbox now, or edit the named reference to the file in the game code some how.

Or I guess I may only be able to play this one from dvd only when it needs this file.

Any tips on forcing illegal characters?

I got the game yesterday and also found my Xbox hang on that Object_Gunshhip_Fly_by_24+.xvg file.

I'm wondering if it's really needed. Does anyone know what this file does?

Xbox-saves has a patch for it. System_Overlord found which file links to the + file. So basically, he dropped the + sign, and re-linked it.

For those too lazy to find it, it's under New Uploads (for now at least).
I hope I'm not outside forum rules to post the direct link:

Nup, doesn't seem to exist of Xbox-saves anywhere. If I'm missing it somehow, please let me know.

The link you posted Yakking brings up a page but the download gets redirected to Mega X Key.

I'll try to look elsewhere for it in the meantime

Well now, I'm not sure if the file with that "+" sign is needed. I opened the default.xbe file in a HEX editor because I was just going to relink it to the same filename minus the "+" sign. However, the file is not linked anywhere within the xbe....

At a lost....

I guess I'll just have to try to finish the game and see if it crashes on me or not....
