Hi all,

About Aladdin Advance, i saw Team Ankarah just uploaded their home page, and add a small support box, where you can find schematics:

www.ankarah.com

Quotes from their coder:
"they gonna release a "Flashy Flashing Software" for the Aladdin Advance Range of Cheapmod.
it will be nice looking, easy and reliable, and give 100% success compatibility with Ankarah Product."

They also told about a new Aladdin Advance called: Aladdin 2Advanced wink.gif
saying that it will not be a glimpse of the X.ploit as it simply cannot.
but will be a good fully loaded chip for affordable price, with sweet sexy and funny software around.

Anyway, wait and see...

I overlooked the discussion about why it was still possible to flash the chip even when it was not in download mode. I have read and I believe that if you have the version 32
(see the fine explanation from "side" Posted: Aug 28 2003, 02:00 AM in this dicussion forum) the flash is always turned on, meaning you can flash it.

Still however I have not yet come that far that I have figured out how to flash it. Can someone explain to me how this is done. I guess you use the CD drive with a burned CD, but I can find no details about this flashing anywhere. Is there a forum I missed?? Can you do this over the ethernet port??

Please help explain me in details:
- What is the file format of the flash image
- What program are you using for burning the CD
- Do you have to burn it as a data CD
- In what order do you press the xbox power button
- When do you slip the CD into the box if that is the case

Xflash-SST49lf020v2.zip

Get Xflash for SST 49lf020
put a 256k bios image file according to Xflash requirements (read me file will told you)

burn onto CDRW (not CDR), DVDR is perfect but not needed and expensive for one time use.

insert the disc, and wait instructions on screen.

there is uploaded diagram on ankarah web site, with detailled informations: www.ankarah.com

regards.

check www.ankarah.com they have detailled instructions now.

(also posted in other thread, but it seem important)

Many seem to think www.aladdin-chip.com is the "official website" for Aladdin Advance, which is not true. The HK company behind www.aladdin-chip.com website also own www.project-design.com which you might have heard about.

Aladdin Advance is a "joint project" where most of the design and cpld programming was done by Team Ankarah, while X-Tronix fixed the first bugs in the Lattice cpld code. The cpld code is up to version 3 now, but www.aladdin-chip.com still sell the version 1 with bugs, since they hacked/ripped the cpld code in the first place, they never bought it from Team Ankarah.

BTW;

The new diagram for xbox v1.5 from www.ankarah.com (adv_12_13_14_15.jpg) is wrong, will probably damage the xbox. They did mistake and connected lpc bus pin 11 to 3.3V, it should be pin 9.

I don't really see what your problem is.

1) took diagram on official site: www.ankarah.com

2) solder like any other revision 1.0-1.1-1.2-1.3

3) add the 2 straps like show on the picture for 1.5

here you go.

After a little chat on ICQ i finally understand!

Solder like normal.. then add two little wires.

I thought it was like this but I wanted to be sure, so now I am, thx side!

And indeed, they should make this one sticky!

EDIT:
I installed it like it should now, but the XBOX giving me a orange light then red.. then it goes off and boots agian to MS.
