I need some help on picking a chip. I'm pretty good at soldering so I'm not sure which chip to use. At first I was going to get the X-Ecuter 2.2 LITE+ but it seems that the X-Ecuter 2.2 LITE is the same thing but the + is solderless. Then I noticed the X-Ecuter 2.2 PRO and it seems to have a little more to it. So now I'm all confused on what chip to get. I could use some help.......
My bad.....needed to read the Newbie Welcome Guide + Additional Rules section before I posted this. Sorry..... This post has been edited by -Natas-: Sep 1 2003, 10:20 PM |

If you can solder get a X2.2 Pro or Lite
If you cannot solder get a Chamaleon or X2.2 with Pogo Pins. |

The X-Ecutor 2.2 Lite Plus is My Favorite. It Has Not Failed ME Yet And I Have Not HAd Any Problems With It. I Would Reccomend It To Anyone. It is Also VERY Easy To Install.

my x2.2 lite has been good to me. But, I do wish I did get a PRO. The reason is, I did a bad flash on my lite and I do not have a programer, so I am dead in the water untill my programer comes in. If I had the PRO I could be back up and running now. IF you are not sure between the lite and the pro, go pro. Unless you want to get the lite and order the programer along with it incase you do what I did.. (dont think it wont happen to you) |

The Pro is the way to go. I bought one and am going to buy another. the external connector for programming makes it a snap. The soldering takes all of 10 minutes. The first time I installed the chip I found D0 hard to solder but the trick is to use a small piece of electrical tape to hold it down and then you can apply pressure with the soldering iron. It took me 2 minutes to do the second time.
Like someone else posted I did a bad flash and was grateful for the programmer. |

Thanks for all your help......
After some research and reading the replies to my post I have picked my chip. I'm getting the X-Ecuter 2.2 PRO and I'm going to solder that bad boy in. No pogo pins for me after reading all the posts about people having problems with them. Well, I'm going to go let my brain cool off now as I have been reading posts and tutorials off this site for awhile today. I want to get to know everything I have to do before I get my chip so there are no mess ups. Oh BTW, this site is very cool. Much respect to the person or persons who put it together and keep it going. |
