It's a metal spray paint, I've used it before, specially made to prevent metal from rusting. I wouldn't put it on your case, just go return it and get some Krylon Fusion or some DupiColor or some other car spray paint. And just about anything that's in a spray can is flammable now-a-days.

Sorry to make a new question when the other guy still goes unanswered, but I am ready to paint my X-Box now and I was wondering if i had to take the case off. I would imagine so, if this is true, how hard is it to get it and all components on and off? Thank you for awsome tutorial.

Hopefully someone comes across this...

Hey guys, Im new to the forums. Deciding to soft mod my Xbox got me thinking about other mods. I wanted to start off slow, and just paint my case.

I was really big on airplane models when I was 12-15. I used an airbrush to paint, and I thought generally it put on a better coat. However, I just used enamels. How are they for coating my Xbox? Im guessing it would take some time to use an airbrush to put it on an entire surface. Should I just stick with rattle cans?

Another question, from your experience, which paint works the best? Is it a primer coat + that fusion paint? Generally, the more coats the better, is it the same for this?

My final question, are there any precautions I should take when spraying my DVD drive face?

Thanks for any input.

If you already have an airbrush I would go ahead and use that. You are just going to need to prime the xbox before spraying color.

If you do go with normal spray paint and you want to use fusion, you dont need a primer. Fusion bonds right to plastic.

The DVD face pops off to make it easier to paint.

There are tons of topics on painting if you want to learn more, just search for them.

OK, sounds good. I figured this was the last stop to find information, I read through it and I guess (hopefully) most of my questions werent answered.

When I used my airbrush, I used enamels with thinner. Would I do the same thing with this?

Has anyone used an airbrush to fully coat their Xbox? I guess I can search for that happy.gif

there is alot of talk in this thread about spaypaint but is there a way to paint a picture with a brush, then paint a few layers of clear over it for protection? I want to do something in detail. I read that I need to use special paint but does that come in clear, and wondering if using regular paint a couple layers down would be possible.
