I am still missing Defrag(!!!!!) and Scandisk option (i´ve seen quite a lot boxes with broken hd´s/need to scandisk), will it soon be in there as announced or is that completely canceled?

What I propose is use cache data unless a refresh of those dirs is called for. Similar to in media X dash.

Once connected to Kai, instead of showing the number of users in a given arena in the game list, how about the ability to see the number of users busy / idle? Even better, IMHO, would be the number of games currently being hosted (and open) and the number of users looking for a game. I find it frustrating as hell firing up halo (ava / kai showing 31 users in the arena) and getting in there only to find out there's no one looking for a game.

I'd love to see the kai chat integrated in ava too (usb keyboard support?).

The "connect to kai" option is buried pretty deep in the menus (don't necessarily want it to autostart), is there any way to add it as a line item on the main menu?

one last thing...how about some language filters on the those chat popups? I have a 7 yrs old nephew that loves to play on the xbox -- he really doesn't need to see the language a few insist on using (and yes, he reads well enough to recognize profanity).

Resize the File Manager when in High Definition. I can Hardly see what I'm doing when in High Definition and trying to delete or transfer files.

Ability to change the fan speed in the "Settings" area, instead of changing the xml.
Useful to me as I like to run at a quiet 20% in the air-conditioned evenings for DVDs, and raise it to 50% during the very hot daytime for serious games sessions.
Doing it in the xml every time is a pain.

as others have said, (I'm just helping to boost demand for them):

text editor, with support for xml. No PC needed then to config files.
xbox name editor (ala xtoolbox) (should be easy to do)

I don't use the cd ripper since I know dvd2xbox works well (I've never even tried the ava one). No offence to the ppl who coded it, but why not base it on dvd2xbox? Like have it launch the dvd2xbox menu or something when you choose rip disc. But have all the code within the 1 ava xbe. You would then have ACL support as others are requested.

The only downside to this is if dvd2xbox gets updated long before a new ava update is due. I'm happy with using dvd2xbox as stand alone however, at the end of the day,.

These would be two really easy to do suggestions.

First: make it possible to use \localpics so that it randomly loads a background picture only in the startup. Now it's not too useful as it changes the picture every 10 seconds or so, meanwhile freezing the dash. So basically just add a "No slideshow" switch to the \localpics skinning

Second: make it possible to play one mp3/wma in the startup. Nothing else. You could use the same audioplayer routine, but either let the file be assigned or the loop taken off from the current situation. I put an Avalaunch intro wma to the Avalaunch folder, but the current version plays the one wma over and over and over and over...

So, minor changes that shouldn't take too much to do i presume but would add some nice customability.

I think it would be cool if you can add everywere icons in the main menu.
I already made some for irc, program manager, and linux..

Feature that i can delete Apps/games/emulators form the menu (so I go to Apps --> stand on my app --> prese start --> choose for: delete app) and that the qiuck start can browse and not that I most type the hole adres (with changes on mistakes..)

A way to manage my Soundtracks would be nice. Using MSDash to name them is a pain. An option to rename them through Avalaunch would be great.

It would be awesome if Avalalaunch could create Soundtracks from CD and get the tracklist from a freecddb database. I don't know how much work that would be though.

regarding Kai in avalaunch.

Intergrate the chat rooms in the arena. For the chat using the onscreen keyboard, there should be a way of storing common phrases so you don't have to typed them out all the time such as:

-Hi
-Anyone hosting?
-i'll host
-you host
-join up
-yes
-no
-good game
-got to go

maybe they can be strings people store so each can have their own unique comments stored for use in chat.

-The ability to see if the users in the room are idle, busy or hosting.
-create private rooms
-create passworded private rooms
-see private rooms
-talk through the dash using headset on arena
-send pm's to buddies
-send invitations to buddies
-follow the buddy to the same room button
-general chat room

basically, just cover all the stuff that the Pc counter part does.

Oh, and after an automatic update, it should be possible to create a blank .xml file with all the new features and options activated. Right now, I don't know how to enable KAI support, because I don't know what to add to my .xml file.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but yesterday i just tried the VoIP for the first time worked great. I was thinking however, if avalaunch could show your outside IP on the dash along with your NAT IP. This way when friends ask for you IP address to connect to you can just tell them without having to check on your pc. BTW, i guess this is only needed if you have a dynamic IP.

How about Samba support i.e client and server, would be nice, not everytime I want to start my ftp client just to transfer one config file

It's only a matter of changing the '\??\D:' symlink to '\Device\Cdrom0' before starting the XBE. Really easy.

To be honest I'd really love to remove the text that says loading your application and the icon.

Plus a real annoyance is that the main background seems too big, but the exact same one place for the settings happens to fit perfectly. A bug?

I would be happiest if you didnt add anymore features but fixed all the bugs with the ones you currently have.

Also, what would be really nice is to be able to change your xbox name through Avalaunch. I know its possible to go beyond the normal alphabet with that because I have seen names with the A, B, X, and Y symbols that look like the buttons on the xbox controllers and even have options for some animation.

Multigame disc support for discs without a root executable.



I don't like my multi discs causing the dash not to load on reset, so I don't put an executable in the root. I instead just place the games in their respective directories, and have put a path in my games list for them. The problem with this is that I have to reset any time I insert one of these discs to get the stuff to show in the list.

It would be great if it just autoscanned for 2nd level executables, regardless of what it found in the root (nothing). As it is now, it already has the ability to do what I want, it just doesn't do it, because it doesn't find that useless menu executable in the root.

Could you please include this icelandic language file in your next release.

howabout you add some options to the filemanager and on screen keyboard.

filemanager: 1. being able to select multiple files at a time. (ie. deleteing stuff)
2. fix that refreshing the user views thing.

on screen keyboard: 1. being able to move the cusor back to the middle of a word. (not have to delete the whole thing cause the firstletter needs to be changed.)

Oh and i know ive said this befor but ........ACL Processing.......

Please, for the love of peete, give the ability to turn off all onscreen text when ACAM/APOD are being used as background. I leave my xbox on to play mp3 and ACAM....plasmas dont like text that can burn it. Would be great to have it auto hide after a bit instead of darkening the entire screen.

a simple button press should take all onscreen text and blow it out to areas not visable.

one feature I'd like to see is abilty to power cycle.

ok call me stupid but what is power cycle? like actuly power off then on? like evox?

preview video support, when my friends come over and want to play a game, its a helluva lot easier to have them choose whichever game has a video they like than to have to explain all 80 games.....

keep up the good work, the .49 release converted me and all my other modded friends to avaluanch.

Also I would love to see an http server like xbmc.

And the abilty to name the xbox and a way to move within the name of an item when renaming, as mentioned before.

A way to open/close the dvd tray with the controller for us lazy bastards.

And lastly, a way to password protect the xbox, both the booting of the dashboard and individual items, with button presses NOT shown on screen. And if you forget the password it will still boot an ftp server and display the IP address so you can edit the xml file with the proper password. This will keep kiddies or roommates from screwing with your xbox.

Requesting new features seems almost wrong, like telling you guys how to do your hobbies right just for us, but if everyone is requesting features, i'll just more or less add more push to some already requested ideas.

Scandisk and Defrag would be killer. The skipping to selected bg music is nice. FlashBIOS option deffinately. The only reason i boot to evox is for that purpose. I'm sure there's a bunch of requested stuff in here that i didn't understand that i too as well would think is bad ass but these features i mentioned are for sure what the dash needs.

well i've seen it in XBMC but i havent used it yet, but how about a way to Invite your friends on the Xlink arena screen. I like using avalaunch as my dash and this would be great i would think. You could send an invite to your friends already signed on, and talk over the VoIP at the same time.
