noobish question. i'm trying to set up my PAL v1.0 xbox to display in HD (720). i got an hd cable (component outs) and it displays fine in PAL 720x576. its got an evox bios.
XBMC is my current dash. I've read i need to change from PAL to NTSC. I FTP'ed UnleashX .39-528 and can run it as an app. I can change video settings to ntsc (M or J), enable 720 etc, save settings. it says reboot required so I do. then its back to displaying PAL 720x576. whatever i do i can't get the NTSC setting to persist. any idea what i'm going wrong?

its showing on a samsung 1080 tv. the tv displays 480, 576, 720, 1080 (i and p). unleashx does show in 480 so i'm sure the tv is ok. i know i could run enigmah tho for ease of use would rather not (I only have the remote connected).

thanks
Heimdall
You need to use Enigmah to switch video modes, not UnleashX.

ok. tried enigmah and it worked with ease.
I thought unleashx was sposed to be able to change video mode

only thing is at NTSC 720 the image is worse (less crisp) on what i'm watching as the original is scaled from ?653x388 or something. maybe the scaler in the xbox is worse that the one in the tv. so i'm back to PAL for now.
tho i got enigmah in apps so i can change easily.
it would even be easier if I could use the remote with enigham - anyone know how??

PAL doesn't support any HD modes...... it's SD only.

NTSC SD is less crisp than PAL SD (i.e. fewer lines), so it sounds as though you're still running in SD mode.

when on ntsc i've got 720 enabled via xbmc and i disabled 480/1080 options. its on component cables and the tv says it is displaying 1280x720. would that not be hd? am i missing something?
Heimdall
Yes, that sounds like 720p HD, and it should be loads better than any PAL picture, because PAL on the Xbox is always SD - Microsoft decided not to implement any HD modes on the Xbox when in PAL mode.
