Okay, so I'm having some real issues here. My little brother was messing around with his xbox at a buddy's house who happened to have the new update installed. He ended up trying to get the new update loaded onto his xbox when he had a power outage halfway through, now the xbox hangs on startup with an error saying his hard drive could not be found, please re-insert and try again. Here's the exact error code for reference:
Code:

PV: 2.0.7371.0 CV: 2.0.8498.0

Blah. So heres my question: After doing some research on similar issues, I had found that back when the original NXE patch was released, some had this very same problem with updates not completing, and they resolved issues by loading the correct update onto a flash drive, and updating from that. Simple enough.

Here's the dilemma: I don't know of ANYONE yet that has a downloadable $SYSTEMUPDATE file that matches the 2.0.8498.0 version yet, since it's so new! I had read a thread on here earlier which had the 8496 for download, and wanted to see if anyone here would be kind enough to post me up a link that I could download the 8498 from to see if this will solve the issues.

Aside from that, I'm DEFINITELY open to other suggestions. Hope someone out there has some bright ideas.

If your brothers friend has the update on HDD/MU try pluging that in.
And boot the xbox while holding the sync button.

Failing that you will have to wait to the 11th when the new update comes out. Then load that on a disk.
Iv had a xbox do what youv said recently and it wouldnt get the update off the usb it had to be on a disk.

should there be a disc in the drive when i try this? also, have you heard of anyone releasing the systemupdate file with version 8498 yet? i've seen 8496 so far..

yea did u google this? theres some uber easy procedure to clear off a failed update. I think its holding down the sync button before and while the system is booting up. something like that
jdematt
Yes, I did google it extensively and all of the "uber easy" procedures were ineffective for partially failed updates. However I did figure out how to fix it. I had to get an xbox hdd that had the full update installed on it, then boot from that hdd and into the dashboard. Once I got to the dashboard, I left the xbox on, and swapped in the corrupted hard drive. The new update then over-wrote the partial one, and after a reboot we were back in business! Hope it helps out other people with similar problems.
