My xbox works fine with the standard 8-10 Gb harddrive but when i put in a 250Gb harddrive and a bootcd in the dvddrive the only thing i get is error 21.

I use x2 4983.06 bios and i have tried with a Maxtor and a Hitachi harddrive its the same result.

What can i do?

What boot CD and does the boot CD work with the small drive in? Are the large drives set to "cable select"?

Its Auto-installer Deluxe 2.02 and it works fine with the small drive, and yes the jumper is set to "cable select"

I had problems with the original 2.00 version of AID not booting the disc first when setting up a virgin HDD. This is supposed to be fixed in the version you have but i have not tested it. Make sure you are booting with the disc already in the tray and the chip enabled.
If you have no joy I would honestly try Slayers 2.6.
If you find Slayers does work and AID 2.02 does not could you let me know and I will test out to see if its all ok.

I tried Slayers 2.6 and that did the job no error 21 no more and afterwards i could just install AID 2.02 with out any probs
