Damn you cursed broken links!
Mandalore
Links work you just have to copy and paste them into the address bar.

The last screenshot looks awsome but it's too bad these pics aren't in hi-def.

Interesting
Carlo210
OMG OMG YESS!!!

Only 3 of them are new though. The 3rd one is old.

Anyways, I told you guys it will be shaping up! They have some nice parralax mapping going on, dont they? I think it's kind of weird how if you look at it at a straight angle, it's just flat. Like, if you are walking and the wall is all parralax mapped and it looks like big bricks, and then a corner comes along and the edge is just flat. It's still ncie, though. Much bette rthan what we got this gen, no quetions asked. Playing games in motion with mapping like this should be amazing.

Can't wait, but the pics were not overly impressive to me...plus i am looking forward to the single player much more then the multiplayer (until I play the multiplayer) for fragging i am looking at Quake 4...

yeah its all about single player for me too.

this had better not turn into another halo 2 for me, where I wanted a great SP game but they focused on the MP it seemed. Im sick of everything being tailored for online mayhem.

I'll know within the first few levels, and if they fubar it, its going back to the store or on ebay, or to someone here at the scene beerchug.gif

Joanna, good graphics and a decent storyline, not asking for much sad.gif
twistedsymphony
sad.gif I don't know something about it just looks funny to me...

The ground looks amazing but some of the buildings look like low-poly junk... Also some of the lighting (like the explosion) looks incredible, but just ambient lighting and the reflections off of characters just looks terrible...

here's hoping these are still just WIP pics.
miggidy
Only a couple of those screens are new.
And yes, it's looks better than the previous screenshots.
I've heard that the screens don't do the game's graphics any justice, they say that the game looks very good (and need I say next gen?) in motion.

I think this is the only title I'll be buying at launch (not that I won't buy another game a few days after) so it better be good. I trust that Rare will deliver a classic beerchug.gif

I agree totally, but from a gaming perspective, its the only type in that genre thats available at launch, so I feel the need to get it. Im talking about the single player. No shooting cyborgs such as quake, no WWII battles found in CoD 2, and it definitely wont resemble Recon.

those are the 3 shooters Im getting, so PD Zero is the only one that should offer a different style from the others.

speaking of titles, does twisteds list have a Launch Window area? the full 6 or 7 weeks worth? I'll have to snag it again, I misplaced it.

miggidy
The pix do sport a mixed bag of goodies, and some nasties.
But I assume this is because we are looking at old screens of an early build of the game. Hopefully the kinks will be ironed out by the time the game ships.
Crypty
Yeah, nothing with this game has impressed me yet. The graohics look a little worse than some of the best Xbox games. The patricles in this game look especially pathetic.

Oh well, anythign can happen, but as of now, it doesn;t look too good to me.
Carlo210
Actually, these screens are all from pre-E3. Half of those screens were released during the MTV promo, I guess these screens just made it out right now. If it was a recent version of Perfect Dark zero, we would be seeing a different map (marketing strategies, history of game promos - never show the same thing twice).
Also, if it was a new batch, they wouldn't show old pics and new pics mishmashed together. All of these screens are from the only publicly recorded and documented (through pictures and videos) preview of the game, at the MTV promo.
All of these screen are technically 'old', we just haven't seen them until now.

Still a great find, Deftech.
Deftech
thanks, but I didnt find them tongue.gif

I still want some pop.gif

Same here, the other game I get depends upon reviews ( I think it will be PGR3)
Andiimon
yeh as someone said earlier, those pics are pretty old. despite that, i've realised from numerous experiences that screenshots 100% of the time completely misrepresent a game...(DOA4 anyone?).

this game is still my #1 buy on launch.

Ha! Looks like we'll be doing the same thing.
That's exactly what I'll be waiting for, the reviews.

Right now Oblivion holds my number 2 spot, but DOA 4, PGR 3, and COD 2 still have potential to steal the spot.
lex luther
right now its Perfect dark zero/quake 4 / DOA4 for me . If the new elder scrolls is at launch i will get it as well.
incognegro
I heard that th PD0 wil be one of the first multi threaded games.........the engine that they use is a strictly multi threaded engine.......i could be wrong but i cant find the article......
Deftech
interesting, find some news on that if possible.
incognegro
Havoc

ok I found it but heres the thing, The first time i read this it specifically mentioned that PD0 will be the first to utilize this but they seem to have edited it for some reason. Anyways i found it under PD0 so it should be connected to the game.

I dunno if this means its multi core or not but in the original article, they said PD0 was the first multi core game for the 360 thanks to this technology.

im a "Rare" whore so anything anybody needs to know on their games they can come to me biggrin.gif
miggidy
Well Itagaki said that he plans on using the other cores for DOA 4.
I know that COD 2 will use one core for just the physics alone.

If PDZ uses some of the different threads then it's the first game to do so.
Remember, each of the three cores can be broken into two threads.
This is something that's not even possible on the PS3.
Sweet!
JimmyDeushku
I haven't played any of the PD games, but are they supposed to look a little cartoonish/unrealistic? It seems that if they were going for realistic they could of succeeded with the power of the 360.
miggidy
Perfect Dark for the N64 had a realistic look to it.
But PDZ was supposed to sport cell shaded graphics at first, now they've taken this sort of in between art direction.
I like it....
Deftech
If it resembles cell shading in any way at any point in the game, that pile is going back or being slapped on ebay faster than calvin fills up Kutaragis mouth with urine. I cant stand cel shading.

and please, b4 this turns into a huge thing, dont ask why. its just fugly uhh.gif

come to think of it, that one pic of her does like its inbetween as you mentioned. But those are ancient and we dont know what the recent build looks like.
incognegro
Its not gonna look cel shaded, that was definitely nintendo's idea. Its not gonna look overtly realistic tho; the only reason the first one looked kinda realistic was that the n64 grafix was so fugly you couldnt tell the difference.

The original PD was so ahead of its time, the n64 was definitely not ready for such an advanced game design but it worked anyway.

I can tell you one thing, dont expect this game to play similar to halo or any of the popular FPS' nowadays, cause PD was in a class by itself and nothing has been able to mimick it since. Shit, im sure multiplayer is gonna take alot more strategy than halo for sure. This should be interesting online and especially in those huge maps with tons of players, im already envisioning all the traps I can set for some unexpecting fuggers! muhaha.gif
flashfreak
I never got into perfect dark, didn't have an N64. Friends liked it though but to me it looks kinda fake. Those pics don't look too good quality either sad.gif Hope they're WIP, some of those textures are plain
KAGE360
at first i didnt really care much for this game but the closer were coming to launch the more im keeping my eye on it. i played the original and really didnt like it, after playing and loving goldeneye i was expecting more. however i think that the game was ahead of its time and running on hardware that couldnt do the game justice: bad framerate, muddy graphics(even for N64), and audio that made me want to cry. i did see potential in the game and if developed on better hardware it would have made a better impression. looking forward to seeing what rare could do with the right hardware.
incognegro
IMO, at it's heart, it was a better than goldeneye; it had the potential but potential and performance are two different things.

Just like Iverson has the potential to be better than jordan but potential and performance are very different. So many things holding him back

So many things were holding PD back......

Now is the time for it to shine and I have been waiting in the dark patiently........ smile.gif
skronk
I dont really see what all the hype is about.. can anyone explain?

I dont think the gfx are any special, just seems like a standard shooter to me.. alotta games i am looking forward to more...
miggidy
Hell even Goldeneye was ahead of it's time, the N64 couldn't handle the game either. I always looked at PD as Goldeneye's sequel.
I don't think there would've been a Perfect Dark if EgAy hadn't snatched the rights to James Bond. Many people forget Goldeneye's campain mode. You were full of gadgetry, you rode a vehicle or two. PD had all of that but in a different setting.

I am a huge fan of Goldeneye, and that is why I've been waiting years for PDZ pop.gif

Like I said above, it's basically Goldeneye 3....
KAGE360
i thought the N64 ran goldeneye just fine, the game was gorgeous, sharp, and detailed for a N64 game. when they added all the effects and such to the goldeneye engine for perfect dark i think they went too far and the N64 couldnt keep up.

i know their basically the same type of game and running on the same engine but i couldnt stand perfect dark because of the technical drawbacks. on the other hand i loved goldeneye and was really impressed with its visual clarity, especially for the N64 where its AA made everything an ugly blur.

for all those people who say that graphics dont count i say look at PD as an example and you will see how bad graphics can make a game unplayable (to me atleast). i would rather have the clarity of goldeneye instead of the effects they added. it was pointless anyways because the game ran like such ass you couldnt even notice any added effects.

Hmmm... i LOVED Goldeneye on N64... if they have proximity (typo?) mines i am soooo happy wink.gif
Deftech
thats the only game I liked on N64, played 4 player for about a montn and unloaded it.

Prox mines were the best!!

Id put them om those ammo cans, and watch my friends walk up to them and try not to chuckles knowing what was about to happen.

or on armor...hahaha. or on steps going down, knowing theyd come chase me

BOOM!!!
skronk
hehe.. yeah.. good times... smile.gif
miggidy
Kage I don't remember PD looking that bad.
Yes it wasn't as smooth as Goldeneye but it did look better, and it was still very playable. Perhaps you played it with out the ram cartridge?
corridon
The only time when PD wouldn't run as smooth as GOldeneye (And I still play it every week to this day) is when there is 4 players and some explosions going on.

That's all.

I can't play Goldeneye anymore after PLaying PD. It's a good game but PD has everything that was good about Goldeneye and then makes it better.
incognegro
If you dont understand what the hyp is about, go read a review on the original perfect or play it urself
miggidy
Goldeneye 95%

Perfect Dark 94%

Rare's got a good track record with the "series", and that is why PDZ is my personal killer app for the Xbox 360 wink.gif

KAGE360
i have played PD (my lil bro has it) and i dont think it looks better. you can tell they are using more effects (lighing, particles, etc.) but i dont think it looks better. the screen was always sluggish and very blurry. i have played it with the ram pack and i really didnt see much difference. like i said for me the game looked so bad it was hard to play, i thought that they tried to throw too many effects at once that it did nothing more then clutter the screen with blurry lighting/lens flairs/textures. basically to me it looked like they had to comprimise the quality of the effects they used just to fit them into the consoles ability.

again, i thought the game had great potential but was held back by the N64's technical draw-backs. i have all the faith in RARE as i think they pushed the N64 better then even nintendo did and im looking forward to how well PDZ turns out.
brooksie48
I don't remember PD looking bad, and if it was a little bad it was definetly still playable! The only time I remember the screen being blurry is when I get sedated....good times.
KAGE360
i saw nothing but blur because of the overused AA. im just stating my opinion about a game that was held back is all.

They have this new screenshot at Gamestop.com

This looks like nothing we have seen. It reminds me of a futuristic far cry. pop.gif
Shinamano
Damn you beat me to posting that image...looks like it will have many varied environments if this is PZ0...
nightwulf28
This game is simply going to pwn every1.......Rare has as stated b4 in this thread had one hell of a track record with FPS. Now that they finally have the best hardware around - this game should and will be a must own IMO..

Just my 2 cents pop.gif
miggidy
Yeah some people are screaming Far Cry in other forums.
But notice how this scope view looks similar to the crosshair on the game's cover?
