hey people. i picked up a few broken xboxes for a cheap price. the motherboard are definetly not working as they were from failed mod attmepts. both the xboxes have a pin header soldered in the LPC with a wire comming from the D0.

i am trying to narrow down the problem but i am not sure what this error code means. the xboxes:

*turn on
*turn off again
*turn back on
*turn off
*turn back on again
*then the ring of ligh flashes green and red

there is no video or audio either. i think that error code means a bad flash or something but there is no modchip in. could anyone help me with this problem?

thansk heaps! beerchug.gif

Hey man, do ur research before asking question biggrin.gif

This is a commun problem wich is also known as FRAG (Flashing Red And Green). This is usually caused by a bios problem of some kind. The first thing you should look for should be if the D0 is grounded or have a broken trace in its circuit. But the problem can be a corruped TSOP bios too. In this case, you can use a modchip to "bypass" the problem.... If you want to learn more about that, just search "FRAG" in the general hardware forum....

I am guessing if they are failed mod attempts, as you say, the problem is most likely lifted or broken traces, probably near the lpc or on the D0 point

Here is an image of the lpc alts to fix traces. If it is the D0, follow it through to the top point and use that. You also might want to use a multimeter to check voltages on the lpc pins. Don't have a link ATM, but search, it's easy to find.

Doubt its a currupted TSOP just from the info you gave us, IE they tried to install a chip, probably not flash the onboard.
Also look for solder splashes around the area.
