IGN Article, pics and vidGotta say, I hate 2K6 (on Xbox 1), I think the game is crap and the animation sucks and unfortunately it's no different for this 360 version. But th visuals themselves, from the polys to textures are unmatched in any game I've seen.

The other pics are simply stunning! Real people are so much harder to create than fictional or alien characters, what an awesome effort! And it's only round 1 so to speak, look at the difference between 2K2 and 2K6 on Xbox (1)... scary things to come. This is what I expected and have been moaning for, the real next gen!
(Still, the thing that seperates it from a game and real life is the movement. It still looks quite un-natural...)

My wife & I were trying to think of who a player was about 10 minutes ago. I came to my PC to play some BF2 and saw this thread and opened the article. She saw it and said "are you trying to look him up?" I said "that is a photo from a video game." Her response: " No it isn't that is a real person."
It is obvious it is a game, but on my 19" LCD from 6' away she thought it was real.
This looks freaking amazing. Xbox 1.5 my ass...

I've known it for quite a while. There seem to be a few fanboys on the 'other side' that have not got it through their heads yet. I think after next week (X05) no one wll be able to say "1.5" again.
At ps3forums.com, the Sony fans are saying they "can't tell" if PGR3 is any good based upon the videos that were released today. "too blurry", etc. They can't face the fact that the crystal clear screen shots that go along with the videos are in-game and real. Next week is going to be a huge wake-up call for a lot of people.

I think they should stay on the other side for all I care. The MS community doesn't need dimheads like that. All of us can admit that the PS3 will be neck to neck with the Xbox 360 and the things which are pulling us to the Xbox 360 are the games, services, and features. PS3 doesn't have the same sevices or nowhere near the blockbuster titles (in my taste) that the Xbox 360. This is why >>I<< am getting an Xbox 360. I mean, how can you pass up some of the best franchise series, like Halo, Elder Scrolls, Quake, Perfect Dark, Ghost Recon (the good editions), Call of Duty, PGR, Forza, Rallisport, newly added Saints Row, newly added Frame City Killer, newly added Kameo, newly added Gears of War, newly added Prey, and the games made by Rare.
There are tons more, some which we may know nothing about. PS3's franchises don't interest me one bit (none of them). I've owned a PS2 this gen (no xbox) and it bored the shit out of me.
Oh, err... THIS NBA GAME LOOKS AWESOMUS!

Not quite. Think of it like Gran Turismo's graphically enhanced replays.
2K have always loaded in textures and higher poly models as they come closer to the screen (if not in replays).
The video on IGN (showing 100% real footage apparantly) looks good though. Besides the average animation.

I just saw the pics today and man am I impressed. This is truly next gen. Look at the details- the sweat, the textured jersy, the veins. This game looks friggin awesome and wait till it gets to the final stages- it's gonna look even better. And Deftech, my sentiments exactly, only if the NFL license wasn't exclusive to EA because 2K makes awesome football games.

this has been stated many many times. The xbox360 will required 720p from the developer then upscale the games to 1080i.

knowing that exact same thing is written year after year about NBA 2K and seeing a 'through the hoop' camera should tell you that while it may be real graphics running off 360, it's not gameplay visuals.
Also if you are familiar with the 2K bball games, you'd know their replay visuals are enhanced, as I mentioned earlier.
You can see the jersey texture and sweat 'load in' during close-ups on 2K5, you also see players poly models draw in higher detailed versions. This is all done for replays too. These techniques actually began with the Dreamcast version.
I'm not doubting these are graphics nor am I doubting the almost unmatched quality from these devs but I will not expect them at that quality during gameplay. Which doesn't bother me (because if true, it would be barely noticeable anyway) nor change my opinion that it's currently the best looking graphics I've ever seen.

Actually I expect this to improve.
You know the animation will get up to 60 fps, so we'll get that at the very least.
Anything else will be a cherry on top.

Yeah and are you going to play from an above the rim view? No, so not gameplay. Are you going to play from a camera on Shaq's nose? Didn't think so.
IGN aren't intelligent enough to have spotted the techniques NBA 2K uses, those which I assume are still being used, at least for the replays.

i know about VC's touching up their replays (as a lot of games clean up their real-time graphics for any kind of cut scene) but whos to say that this session wasnt played previously and then replayed using the replay option? in past nba 2ks when you did a play and manually replayed it yourself through the options there wouldnt be any visual enhancements, so thats a possibility. even though usually only a play is replayed at a time, whos to say that they didnt just replay a big more. if it was 1up.com or gamespot.com saying that this was 100% gameplay then i would have my doubts, but ign for the most part have shown that they know what they are talking about.
like it was said before i expect the final game to look this good if not better during gameplay, am i setting my expectations too high? i dont think so, after all this is only a launch title and again only a glimpse to what the 360 can really do.

Two major flaws I am seeing in the game 1. bad cloth animation it just looks horrible first generation cloth animation. The top of the jerseys are way to stiff and it just does not look right. Maybe this is because they put more poly's into the models then into the detail of the jersey. 2. Bad animation watching it pretty much explains it all.
