Full Version: Getting Errors 7, 9 And 13; Wtf Is Wrong With My Xbox?

My XBox just "died" yesterday. I was playing "Conker: Live and Reloaded" single player and suddenly the sound went off. No background music, no effects. I first thought that my AV-Cable was loose, but after leaving the area and waiting for the loading screen, the screen just went black.
I rebooted my Xbox and got the "call customer support" page with the led-style error code in the top left corner. It happens when booting with and without modchip.

I tried to boot my Xbox a dozen times, but no chance. Strangely, I don't always get the same error. I get:

6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD
7 - kernel - HDD timeout
9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug)
13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

(explainations from http://www.xboxscene.com/articles/errorcodes.php )

Aparently all errors are about the harddrive, so I guess it's broken. I still have the original HDD installed by MS.

Has anyone expirinced something similar?

Try putting the original hard drive in the xbox and boot. If you get no problems then its your hard drive. If you do check the plug in for any dropped wires or bad solder points just in case

Definatly sounds like a hard drive thats gone bad or soon going bad if u have a modd in ur box this is an easy fix if not can be pricey

my suggestion is get a modd and put a new hdd in it

My Xbox is modded already.

Are all harddrives "Xbox compatible" or do I need a special one?
How can I properly format the new hdd and how do I reinstall the Dashboard?

Any computer hard drive will work with the xbox, you just plug it in to the xbox, then get a slayers auto installer disk and boot up the xbox with the chip on and select install new hdd and thats it

Sounds easy...

Can I plug my Xbox hdd in my PC to test it?
JNRModding
ur computer will not recognize it because it is locked so u first have to unlock it then test it as normal

Allright...so I have to buy ANY IDE-Harddrive, install it in my Xbox and then use slayers auto installer disk. It will format the harddrive and copy the files needed on the C: directory.

thats what you need to do! biggrin.gif
