AutoLaunchGames = No

DVDPlayer = "E:\Apps\players\dvdx\default.xbe"
AutoLaunchAudio = Yes
#AudioPlayer = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"
MSDashBoard = "c:\msxboxdash.xbe"

FTP into the Xbox and read the bold line above in your Evox.ini file. look on the C drive and see what you have for the MS Dash. It could be MSXboxdash.xbe, MSDash.xbe, Xboxdash.xbe or something similar. Change the line in the Evox.ini to reflect what you have on the C drive. That should get your MS Dash back.

The DVD drives go out. You can open it up and try cleaning the laser. Use a cotton swab and some alcohol to gently clean the laser. If that doesn't work you can replace the laser or put the other DVD drive in there. You can't put the HD from another Xbox in there without unlocking it and locking it to the new Xbox.

If you have an unmodded Xbox that works, why not play the games on it?
