i have a V1.1 which i hardmodded with a blue X2 duo and i want it to run WITHOUT the dvd drive as its going to be put in a car.

With the retail HDD and hardmod it ran fine without the DVD in and booted to dash in about 10-12 seconds, but then i swapped in a 250gig HDD from a previuosly softmodded V1.6 xbox and now my 1.1 takes about 5 minutes to boot to the unleash x dash.

What did i do wrong? when i use AID to check the bios it just comes up "unknown" and doesnt show 4979, 5035 etc etc.

i have another Duo x2 chip which i installed into my 1.6 so should i try swapping in that chip and switching it to bank 0 to see what happens?

somewhere along the way the dvd check now takes forever boot up the dash.

any hints?

most XBE BIOS patching tools allow you to disable optical drive detection. try that. also, get rid of the softmod on the HD.
