*Mods - forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong forum location. My question is firmware related so I thought it belonged here. Please move the post should you feel it belongs elsewhere. Thanks!

All-

I have a BenQ drive spoofed as a Hitachi 47 with iXtreme 1.61. My understanding is that this f/w version uses "strict Wave 4 compliance" - meaning - any games above Wave 4 *won't* boot without using the "activate.iso" disc.

Is that correct?

The reason for my question is that it appears I'm able to boot games that include new waves *above* wave 4. For example, I'm able to boot - and play - Mass Effect 2 without using the "activate.iso" disc. According to the verified games list at ABGX360.net, Mass Effect 2 is a Wave 6 game.

How/Why am I able to boot this game - or any other game above Wave 4 - with iXtreme 1.61 firmware alone?

Am I misunderstanding something here? This just doesn't seem right.

I'm certainly not one of the few geniuses around here but I'm not a total noob either. I don't understand how this could be happening.

I reviewed the Jungle Flasher log from the day I flashed it - quite awhile ago - and everything looks perfect...no errors and nothing else out of the ordinary. It appears that it was flashed properly.

Also, FYI - it was spoofed as a Hitachi back when we still used 1.51 so this wasn't the first time it had been spoofed.

Any thoughts are appreciated.
