I have a few PHAT lite on drives I have retrieved my key from and flashed. Used the connectivity kit in this thread with the probe:

For some reason I can't exactly find the answer to my question:

I have a slim litron 0225 drive and want to get the key.

Note I only want the key for X360key not looking to flash.

1. Do you still use the probe to get the key?
2. Do I need anything beyond the kit in the thread above to retrieve the key?
3. If I do not need the probe, with the tools I have can someone explain how I pull the key on my slim?

Everything I read talked about using a kit like mine for power only but then use a different device between the SATA connector on the hard drive to the computer. Can someone clarify what I really need to do to get the key for the slim drive?

Lookup the PMT method. Thats all you need to do

forget about PMT thats for phat liteons
suitable sata is all that is required
x360usbpro is the best option
via and other sata chipsets can be used with the usb trick to gain 0x72.

360USBPRO is the best way to go but if you dont want to spend that much cash then you could buy a cheap USB to SATA convertor from the ebay and follow the below instructions. I can confirm that this does work.

This is confirmed working 100%
open jungleflasher,
power up the drive with a usb to sata adaptor connected, (even cheap 3 in 1 types seem to work)
this seems to force the 0225 drive into vendor mode and 0x72
then by hot swopping the sata to the via 6421 and refreshing the port you can slimkey the drive
NO to unlock and dump drive, it will try and autoload but you will have invalid status as jf has kicked the drive out of vendor so we have to repeat the process,
so to write you have to do the same again ,
so start jf and have your prepared cfw in target
using the slimkey dummy.bin you have just dumped as source and LT2.0 as target then click spoof source to target.
then you can power up the drive with the usb to sata adaptor connected,
hot swop to the via 6421 card port,
refresh the port
intro the drive
you will get prompt about 0x8c the spi is locked,
yes to unlock, wait for dots and choose use your method to unlock,
sputnik for mxic,
or kamikazi for winbond,
get 0x00 and write
you can relock the drive to 0x8c by clicking the 0x00 button.
its a cheaper way than the x360usbpro/lizard route.

Thanks for the replies. I actually have a USB to SATA adapter only problem is that it's meant for an internal hard drive so is a combination of the data and power part. Can provide a pic if wanted. Any thoughts on if this is usable? When I have to connect the SATA port to the pc I will loose power because its one unit.
