on xtoolbox theres a DVD COPIER option which appears to allow you to copy dvds the hard drive...
But whever ive tried to copy a dvd it comes up with an error and stops.... Is this app known for not working or is it just not working for me....

Try DVD2XBOX. It's my favorite move stuff to the HD utility now.
