I subscirbe to IGN, and I download alot of their videos.
How come the game movies I get (not only off of IGN) dont work in XBMP? Every single game trailer or video review that I try and watch in xbmp doesnt work....but everything else works (I have a ton of music videos and never have any problem with them)
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Do i need to convert the file or something? If so....whats a good program to use?

maybe you should reencode them using xvid or divx.

Sorry for being such a newb.....How do I re-encode them, and where can I get one of those programs?

Try Dr Divx (be careful of spyware). Its a shitty encoder but its shit-easy to use. Divx.com

Err no, try RAD Video Tools, from Bink & Smacker. No spyware, no bloatware and you can use it to encode into divx/xvid.
The reason the IGN files don't work is probably becoz they're encoded with Quicktime 6. Support for that is nonexistent in XBMP. Will defo come later, when the open source people figure the differences out. Older QT, like v5 and below, is supported.

ok, so Ive got this bink program (very nice program compared to the other converters ive seen).
So what exactly am I doing to my IGN videos? am I converting them to a diffrent format? If so, which format?

1. Highlight your .mov file in the main window, and choose 'convert a file'.
2. In the window that pops up, choose 'output type...AVI' . Do not change anything else.
3. Press Convert, a popup window should appear named 'Video Compression'. Select the codec you want to use from the drop down window. Then press OK.
4. Wait, video should now be converted.
You will have to have the codec you want to use installed beforehand on your PC. Bink doesn't install that for you.
If you experience glitches, dropped sound, and other nastyness, try another codec. MPEG-4 Low Motion usually works for me.
