Just wondering
are you guys actually going to release some software or what?
The only thing i see from you guys are screenshots, screenshots, screenshots
flames to other users and the really strange thing that the
devs dropped their own dashboard sourcecode and restarted with the nexgen sources
I mean if you guys are serious, then pls give us some proof in the form of a
default.xbe

let me just make the future clear for you frodo.
Here is the deal
we release something unfinished we will get flamed
we dont release somthing we get flamed
we release something that needs 2 be update everyday coz we havent finished debuging we will get flamed
we give up on project we will get flamed
we ask for a donation we will get flamed
Tell me what do u want? A default.xbe that is still not stable & with 1 wrong selection can render ur xbox useless? what would that say about our software.
Yeah we scraped our original sources they were nuffing anyway & we continued with nexgen. People that are in our team are testing the program & hopefully they will read this & confirm that this dash is working. Our devs in our team also please confirm. We got the sources from the original team who wish to stay anon & we got there support. Along with that we also have the support of Benjeremy & the blokes of team ava. Also Im sure momdad can post something about us & what he has received. Xantium knows that we are no vapourware crap as he wouldnot be posting our news on his webpage & the 35 people in our chatroom #xboxopensource on efnet know that this is no vapourware. Why is it that all you newbies always flame you know what, just to make you happy this is vapourware & WE ARE NEVER GOIN TO RELEASE IT so how about u go get some c c++ & dx8 books along with some .lua tutorials & start coding your on dash. Come on what you waiting for ?
Ohh yeah were not charging you for this dash nor are we forcing you to use it there are afew dashboards you can use out there.
I hope my team members & respected stuff of the scene including benjeremy xantium momdad & blazed please post something!
Now before you start flaming for my typos take this into consideration. its 2:00 am been awake for about 2 days now havent had a rest been working on nexgen skin not for me but for the scene.

just my input...
horneydvl has been around for a long time, along with the other names he mentioned in his post and he's definately legit. from talkin to him erry so often he's undoubtedly serious about the project but repsonses like yours (frodo) to his project definately make him question whether its worth it which is kind of sad since he's put alot of effort (along with his crew) into it. also, i dont know what country your from but i'm in american and erryone here knows that competition is only better for the users/buyers (no buyers here since he's doing it for free!). lastly, the fact that its free is another thing to take into account. not much is needed to be said about that. i dont know what else to say but fuck off and be supportive cause horneydvl is for real and him and his crew are busting their balls for wat they are starting to think is a useless to project cause of fruits like you.

Yeah, this is a
real project. It might take them a while, but you can't blame them from being a it gun shy. A release would get quickly spread out and get distributed in an uncontrollable manner. If there was a critical flaw, the team would get attacked for it... and that's not fair, is it?
So they want to make sure the key features are in place before putting out a public release. Nothing wrong with that, IMO.
I have a "stable" of willing guinea pigs, erm, I mean "Beta Testers" that have access to my "WIP" binaries. They understand the nature of the software... perhaps the XdashOS team could look into doing something like this - but even then, the nature of "alpha" software is even touchier than the situation with MXM.
So cut them a little slack and BE PATIENT.
By the way,
frodo.... do we have auto-launch capability for SVCD/VCD/DVD/DivX discs in XBMP yet?

I've been very patient on that feature,

I don't see anything new in the screen shot- no new features, nothing. All you do is hype it. If you didn't want people to get on your back you shouldn't have announced the project until you were ready for a release!

I find it ironic you are saying this to the author of XBMP... just look under his avatar
I must say that i think this is real and that i fully support them...as my 2nd dash!

funny that a coder flames others. you should know what it can take to release something that the dumbest can use. they don't want to kill all the n00b boxes.

Hmm... XOSDash. Nope, not on my XBox. Seen somme low quality screenies though.
Hmm... XBMP. Oh, yeah use it everyday. One of the most respected apps in the "scene.
Sure... Frodo's just some dumb flaming newbie. You guys need to get a Clue Άβ. Its not the fact that you dont relelease anything, its the fact that you hype your product and then yell at people when they ask when you'll be releasing.

Well, I've tested neXgen in several stages pre-source release, and various builds since the new team has taken over the project, so I can say from first-hand experience that it's definitely progressing, and is certainly not vapourware

I'll be writing up a review on one of the latest builds to give everyone an idea of it's current standing.
In my opinion I think it's a wise move to keep it a bit hush-hush, save for screenshots and the odd teaser info. An alpha release at this point wouldn't make sense and would essentially equate to a "glamour release" such as what was done when the old alpha of neXgen was released in December. Once some of the primary functionality is closer to the end target, then it'll make more sense to pump out an alpha/beta.

On a side-note -- simple fact is that in any scene, with any type of development, flamers, supporters, complainers, etc. will always be present. The majority don't realize the amount of time it takes to put together a solid, stable product. It's those individuals that get pissy or downplay it when something's not released as quick as they want it.
Putting out short news quips, and screenshots once in a while is a standard thing to do -- the same is done for practically any software or product out on the retail market or in the homebrew/freeware realms.
Patience is the key. Like the saying goes -- all good things take time. It's unfortunate when impatience in such instances end up in flame wars, claims of vapourware, and frustration of the developers. Just do your best to channel that frustration into motivation -- this goes for both developers *and* users... if you're waiting for something, why not send in suggestions, feature requests, etc. User input is what helps make all these things that much better.
Remember, these people are developing these things for your benefit, in their own free time, so have a bit of patience and respect the fact that it takes time.

Well i dont consider myself a newbie. I've written XBMP together with runtime&duo
On the other hand, i know momdad & Ben jeremy. I didnt know they were part of xboxos. The fact that they confirm xboxos is for real is enough proof for me.

I didnt intend to flame anybody. I was curious about this project. I mean i hear great stories about what xboxos is going 2 b like, but you must admit that for the outside world its still stories for now.
So my excuses if I offended anybody, that was not my intention.

Horneydevil, do you change the background but not the orb just to spite me? IMO (and in a lot of other peoples' opinions) that looks much worse than the background. Seriously though, did you guys get that orb from a coloring book?
