Thanks for the comments everyone... it was a BITCH to wire all those lights... and then wire them all to switches... and somehow keep it all clean. But I did hehe. Here's some pics of how the LED's were mounted and/or wired up.

IPB Image
^^ They're not all wired at this point, and the wire was electrical taped so i could get it out of the way for soldering, but its all nice and neat now.

I had to make almost 160 solder joints in the lid alone... so i've sucked in enough solder fumes to last me a lifetime.

As for my sig, those specs are actually describing this xbox:
Shit tons of work!! And ignore that one controller port light that is out, it's fixed now.

props to you diazzan for all that hard work installing and wiring all those leds. But I still think that the led colors are too mixed up and the colors look out of place or sloppy. Everything else looks perfect though biggrin.gif
Dizzan
Thanks man... it was definately an assload of work. I spent sooooo much time down in my basement just cutting, stripping (wires lol), soldering, repeat.... a million times. I had to cut 65 3/4" lengths of wire, strip and tin both ends, and install them that way. Since my hometown Radio Shack is the most worthless radioshack EVER, they of course didnt have just bare wire i could solder in and hot glue around... wankers. So that made the process like 100 times harder and more time consuming.... hell I bet I easily have like 40 hours of work into that beast.

As for my clear xbox, the colors look kind of washed together since i took the pic with my camera phone, but I assure you that they did look really incredible and clean up close... .especially the 3 red LED's that were actually INSIDE the dvd drive :-)... Those LED's in the lid arent there anymore tho cuz i swapped out the hdd and dvd drive... my red LED's above the dvd drive were hardwired right to the hdd hehe so i just have to put em back in... then cut my sammy up and light that up somehow.

Here's another crappy pic trying to show the colorful goodness... it's just enough to not be too extreme.

I started doing the same thing for about 3 or so leds (cut 3/4" wire, tin, solder, repeat). I was like, no way am I cutting wires for each led. So, I just strung a long peice of 30awg wire across all the + legs of the leds. Then I took my soldering iron, and burned the insulation around the wire where the led's leg was. Then I soldered teh wire to the led. Then I repeated for all the - legs. It worked perfect for me! out of 18 leds, only 1 didn't light up and it was becuase I mixed up the + and - legs. I kid you not, for wiring up 18 leds, it took me about 30-40 mins. Hope that helps you in the future so you're not spending 40+ hours on soldering. It may save a few years of not battling lung diseases from all those solder fumes too laugh.gif . Anyways, yea, it must be camera quality becuase the colors still look very on-organized and messy. But, since you spent so much time on it I can't bash you any further tongue.gif

After I paint mine, get my mod chip, hard drive, and new front pannel... also may be some LEDs on the sides and cut out the top of the optical drivew I'll post mine smile.gif I really hope all of you guys will like it. It's my first mod I have ever done to a console so yea I'm kinda nervous... So far I got a clear case, a jewel, and an LED ring to light the jewl. This weekend I'm getting sand paper and paint so I can do the painting and I can cut out the top of the DVD drive next week too... in fact I can do all of it next week because I get my pay check tomorrow wink.gif
Dalpura

Here's mine- kind of a repeat from about 220 posts ago, but I have added the orange paint to the fins and front/back triangle sections. I also added the custom jewel and leds underneath. I would have liked the outline of the jewel to be white instead of black, but I didn't know when I ordered it that the black border would be there.

I gradumacated from Tennessee. laugh.gif

You wouldn't believe how much time I spent taping the box to get the paint job clean... I'm way too an@l with the details.

^ I'll say! I'm almost afraid to ask how you got the grooves of the power button painted orange. Tiny paintbrush, by hand?

Actually, I painted the whole thing and used paint thinner on a piece of cloth to remove it from the smooth surface.
paulharris2005
ive done the same thing with my power/eject buttons, i just painted the p/e buttons and then used a really fine grit sandpaper and sanded what i didnt want.
samfisher440

Ive just finished my first xbox mod. The x is silver as you can see, with blue leds in the jewel, on/off button and above the controller ports where the numbers USE to be. I was going for an alien/outerspace look.

My suggestion is to use Krylon Fusion spray paint. Bonds to the plastic and works great. Also, take your time and tape everything very well. You'll thank yourself later.

Here's my work in progress, I just finished shaving the ribs (or fins as some call them).
Yes, it had paint on it before an I'm about to strip it off due to the fact it turned out terrible. I had this idea for a long time now and just now got the tools I needed to do it. I'm also filling in the controller number indents with some body filler the cracks on the edges of the ribs are really rough so I'm also going to fix that up with some filler as well. Feel free to comment and leave some ideas. biggrin.gif

Bondo sticks fine, but it's also not a very good brand of body filler, it's hard to mix.
I used it recently as an only alternative due to the fact I live in an area where there isn't a wide variety of filler brands. But yes, to answer your question, it sticks fine. As for recommendations, 3M makes good fillers, and so does Dynalite smile.gif

^ I'm not sure why fitting a 320GB hard drive in an Xbox would be any harder than any other hard drive. If you're wondering how to fit the guts of the Logitech controller in there, I talk a little bit about it on my site.

I've got a 320GB (Western Digital) in mine, its the exact same size, but remember, split it into F and G, if you set it to F only, expect corruption
chronotrigger681
yeah my hd will fit fine i guess i thought it was bigger than it really was seemed that way.i used brush on black tape and covered the wireless reciver in it so no rish of shorts then put it behind my dvd drive
