I recently bought an Xbox had it chipped then wanted to replace the hardrive with a 45 gig ibm, i tried a few times with no luck then eventually used HDPREPARE, selected cable select, and stuck the evoloution boot disk in the dvd drive to create the HD Partitions, all that happens is the screen goes black and a FTP logo comes up. Once this happens i cant connect through FTP and none of the controller buttons work.

Sounds like you are using the 4978.03 bios, which will not help you format the hard drive at all. That screen should not load unless you press the A button while the xbox is loading.

SO CAN SOME EXPLAIN WHAT I HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO GET THE HARD DRIVE WORKING PLEASE.......

don't press A on bootup? or use another bios like X2 4977

btw your caps-lock key is stuck

1) You can lose the caps
2) you can confirm if what I said was correct:
Are you using the 4978.03 bios?
Are you pressing A when the xbox boots?

I dont know what bios im using, cant read the bios checker on xbox, dont know how to update and by the way im not pressing A, it just loads up the ftp pic, cant do anything after that!

OK, do you know what chip you have?
Does your evox boot cd work? (try with the original hard drive in)
