can you use a motherboard from XBOX "A" with a HD from XBOX "B" and a CD drive from XBOX "C" i have found that replacing one of the drives renders an error code.
i would like to be able to use some spare parts from fried boxes to make a working xbox.

im pretty sure you can put the dvd drive from a different xbox in yours with no problem, but if you dont have a mod chip then you most likely cant use a different hdd because the motherboard and hdd need to be using the same password to communicate.

Yeah, any xbox dvd drive will work with any xbox, but you have to change/match the hard drive passwords before you make a swap.

all the parts are interchangeable - if you have a chip, just unlock your hard drive - there is no need for a locked drive, except for xbox live.
