The topic title says it all.

Audio is OK, Black screen with Eject and Solid Green (enable/disable with bank 1, unprotected).

X2.2 Lite, 1.0 Xbox, Thomson DVD-ROM.

I boot the box with without a CD in it in both modes (enable/disable). Also, in both modes, they work as they should. The box navigates fine in M$ dash. Basically I'm just pissed that I can't see the screen. I have read up on a lot of things. I know I need a normal a/v cable, which I have. I know the box should be cooled down. Check. Nothing seems to work. As many times as I've booted up, I've had no problems besides this. No fragging or anything.

Also, when the chip is being flashed (default peflashed cromwell)... should the box eject LED blink at all? I modded a box before and I believe it did blink. Since I can't see the screen I am trying to flash it via CD. And it should shut down automatically, correct?

I've tried searching for hours. No luck. Now I'm making a thread in hope of some answers.

TIA.

I just installed a modchip with Cromwell installed for the first time last week (previously, I've had an external DIP Flash chip, which I program with my Needham's on my PC). I also didn't have video (because I have the HDTV adapter).

It took a few tries to get it to burn the flash. I'm so used to burning Xbox CDs/DVDs with "UDF with Joliet", that I didn't pay attention to the instructions that said I had to burn "ISO Level 1". I tried a few times (with UDF, including the 50MByte 'dummy.bin' file, and had no success).

Once I actually paid attention to the instructions, and burned "ISO Level 1", it worked immediately (no 'dummy.bin' needed, btw).

I don't know if this is the issue you are having, but I thought I'd point it out - sometimes 'stupid' mistakes like I made are the culprit.

No no listen... I can't see what the hell I'm doing. I can't see shit on my TV. I DO NOT have an HDTV adapter... I use the standard audio/video cables.

i had the same problem on 3 xboxs. xbox worked with chip off and when enable black screen and dvd drive wouldnt eject. after messing with the 3 for more than 3hrs i found that if you boot your xbox with chip off, make sure clock was set, turned xbox off, unplugged all cables, replugged all cables, enable modchip and then power on 4/5 times the cromwell screen came up. weird shit, but i had to do it to all 3 boxes in order to flash them. hope it works for you.

Maybe you accidentally switched to Pal? I did that once...theres a video region selector program on xbins somewhere if you wanna try that.
CubeD
How could I accidently switch to PAL? Could you enlighten me on that? Hell, it could be the problem, only I don't know the possibilites of me actually doing that. I'll look on the xbins, in the meantime... maybe you can tell me the name of the file and explain in detail how I could have made this mistake, and the best way to fix it. Thanx for your help.

But keep in mind I can't see anything. So if it was PAL, wouldn't the screen flicker vertically?

The instructions that came with my Chameleon said that Cromwell's video may/may not work in all situations (even with standard video adapter), and you should just do it 'blind' in that case.

I've tried doing it blind. I have another Xbox with Evox installed. Can't I just do something called "hotswapping"? I never used any program or app on the chip I am trying to flash. I just put the chip in and I am having problems with it.

Sorry I took awhile. I can't remember the name of the program, I just used FlashFXP to get into xbinx then searched for Video. I came up the it, and you've gotta make a boot disk with it. Once you get it on a cd, and into the drive, it won't show anything, but just hit X I beleive. Then take the disk out and reboot. I accidentally switched when messing with my Xbox Media Player settings. I guess I was screwing around in the wrong area and switched it to pal from NTSC. I know the new version of EvoX has a setting to switch between display types. Oh well, hope it helps.

edit) I think it's called Enigmah Video Selector or something

im shure your not this stupid but:

Did you make shure you pluged in the Yellow wire all the way on the RCA cable?

I was having trouble and i relized mine was not in good.

EDIT: Also, does it work with the chip complealy out of the box?
