Hey Fellas,

Just recently modded this week with an executer 2.2 Pro. I am going to install an 80gb or 120gb hard drive. I have been doing tons of reading on these forums and others and I managed to find this tut:
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install.php

This all sounds very straight forward to go through however, in the heading of the tutorial it mentions it is "For EvolutionX 1.8.458!!!"

Should I be concerned with the version indicated? I am leary to follow these instruction if it doesn't apply to me.

My Bios version is 4976
I am using the latest version of Evox dash.

Also, has anyone else out there followed this tutorial and had success?
If there are are more clear tutorials out there that I have not stubbled accross show me the path smile.gif
As Always, thanks in advance.

http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/hdd-install2.php is better.
BTW, this is answered in the Pinned topics in this forum.

Ya, I think the "Report this post does NOT mean "Reply to this post"" bit might actually be working. My inbox doesnt have quite so many "Reported Post from Xbox-Scene" in it anymore. wink.gif

Hey Thanks for the replies and the link!
Just got a Seagate 80gb, want to ensure I got this right before moving forward with installation.

Forgive my Ignorance heinrich, I am using the latest evolutionX version 3921.
Therefore, according to the tut I am to delete "everything" under Menu and replace with this:

Section "Install Menu"
{
Item "Install New drive",@210
Item "MS Dashboard",ID_MS_Dash
Item "Reboot",ID_Quick_Reboot
Item "Power Off",ID_Power_Off
}
[Action_10]
Info "Install HDD - Xbox-Scene"
Warning "This will format all drives"
Warning "Make sure you have a backup of C & E"
Progress "Formatting drives"
ConfigSector "backupdisk.bin"
Format c:
Format e:
Format f:
Format x:
Format y:
Format z:

Thus overwriting [Action_11] of my current evox.ini correct? And a simple cut and paste from the tut to the ini will suffice?

Sorry, this probably seems like a really dumbass question but as a noob, a little nervous is all and just need a little clarification.
Thanks again

i recommend making a copy of the evox.ini and THEN doin that, because once u install your dashboard ur gonna have to customize ur menu and that will be much easier with the original evox.ini

Excellent point mastertito4!
I have copied the evox.ini , in fact I copied the entire dash folder to be safe.
Now, I have read your Noob guide, and my next step since I already succesfully created the evolutionx boot CD is to replace the dash on C:

Is it really as easy as just FTPing to the xbox c: drive - ranaming default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe?

This is all I need to do to replace the dash to evolutionX?
I have read so much lately that I am getting confused with all of the varied instructions out there now.

These Forums Rock.
Thanks again in advance! beerchug.gif

u dont have to "replace" any dash now thanx to the new BIOS versions. most of them have a list order of which .xbe's name to look for first, so it looks for 'evoxdash.xbe' before 'xboxdash.xbe' so you can just name your evox's default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe and put it on the C: along with evox.ini

mastertito4, I read your tut again and followed up on Slayer's link that you provided. Have been doing some reading on Slayer, this seems so much easier.
Can you comment,
it seems that might be the way to go to install my 80gb HD and the rest of the apps it contains? Although, not certain where to start with that but that's just more time on my part "reading"!
I really appreciate your help and the rest of the folks here. Without these forums I would be at a loss.
