I recently installed linux on my xbox (Ed's Debian 0.4.1), everything went well, not a single problem. I also installed KDE (kde 3.1.1) and once again everything went good. I got my xbox usb adapter and was finally able to log into KDE from the main login screen. After a few times logging in, it asked me if I would like KDE to automatically boot upon load, and I clicked yes. Now the program hits this error halfway through the loading process (before login screen):

Checking root file system...
fsck 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
Reiserfs super block in block 16 on 0x700 of format 3.6 with standard journal
Blocks (total/free) 512000/280097 by 4096 bytes
Filesystem is cleanly unmounted
FIlesystem seems to have fatal corruptions, rebuild-tree is required.

fsck failed. Please repair manually and reboot. Please note that the root file system is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write:

# mount -n -o remount,rw /

CONTROL-D will exit from this shell and REBOOT the system.

Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup):

I am unable to type or do anything here, it just sits there. I am wondering what I can do to fix this, if anything?

Ok a year on, but Im posting this reply because I had a similar problem just today and could find no information on how to solve it.

I have Xebian installed on my E: partition within partition files. After a power failure the xbox stopped during boot with the fsck warning and the "hit control-D to continue normally" message. I usually control my xbox via SSH (no usb port ) so this was a problem. So I spent 2 hours adding a usb port and plugged in a keyboard.

Unfortunately the keyboard didnt seem to work with xebian (works fine in EvoX) and I still couldnt run fsck or hit Control-D mad.gif

So after a bit of research these are the steps I took to get it working again.

1.Booted off the Xebian install disc.
2.SSH'd in as root
3.ran "mount /dev/sda50 /mnt" (this was my E: partition)
4.ran "losetup /dev/loop/0 /mnt/debian/rootfs"
5.ran "fsck /dev/loop/0" and fixed the errors

Rebooted the xbox and all was good in the world again smile.gif

Hopefully that helps someone
