Is it possible to install a used hdd?.... I thought that it might work if it was formatted... Just wanting to know for sure.

I don't see why not. If you format it aren't you returning it to a "like new" condition anyway? Install away!

You're repartitioning and reformatting it...short of zeroing out the drive, you're doing everything possible to restore it to new condition.

NOTE: You do NOT have to zero out the drive....I was just making a point.
