Ok.. I have a v 1.2 with phillips drive. some of my backups will not load. They will play on my other xbox fine. So, I figured it was my dvd rom drive. I have swapped the roms and tried the same games and still they won't load. I also puchased a samsung 616t to test out.. That drive will still not allow some of the games to load. Since i have now ruled out the dvd-rom drive, what in the hell could be wrong then. Is there something that may control the rom drive that would allow it not to read games?

I have a couple of xbox's laying around for parts.. but just don't know what to start swapping.

Break down of machine:
v1.2
Xecuter 2.1 lite
120 gig western digital
newest bios
evolution X dash

when i insert that game it loads the "evolution X" screen and then goes right back to the dashboard

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

what bios are you using on the second xbox, could be that they are just not being patched like they are on the original xbox that they work on.

did you check your evox settings to make sure they are same as th eother xbox might just be a config with igr in the evox settings

It was the chip, I put a new chip in and flashed it.. w0w it played ... so now i need to figure out how to re-flash the old chip with updated bios. I tried inserting the bios disc, but that didn't work. I even went to the flash bios option in settings and that didn't work either. I guess i'll have to hook up the programmer to re-flash the chip.
